Language Skills Taught In Class The completion of the new wing and the enlargement of the student body added eight new English teachers. Mrs. Walters joined Mrs. Bullington in the teaching of the Advanced Composition course which works on improving a student's style of expository writing. Short skits performed for the High School Nursery School children were written and several one-act plays were written and produced by Advanced Comp. classes. The practical side of writing, such as themes and short essays, was also studied. Writer's Seminar, taught for the first time this year, is the next step after Advanced Comp. Mrs. Bullington modeled the course on a college levelg hence the name Writer's Seminar. Students learn the value of criticizing as they set out to evaluate each otheris work. The creative aspect of writing is emphasized and students learn the techniques of short story writing and later write some short stories themselves. MRS.
