Mocken- Virst In Academic Ol mpics Piera and Christal plan their propaganda. x f TX--:wi On May 1, the Fox Chapel Academic Games teams, under the tutelage of Miss Kavanagh, arrived in Fort Lauderdale. Florida, for the Nova Games. Russ Ayres, jeff DeVore, John Boyer, Gordon Kaplan, and Joe Wladsworth were the first team. while Tom Slater, Lynn Maguire, Christal Mockenhaupt. Cathy Car- rubba, and Piera Prato were the second team. Jude Skowron and Dan Dobratz played as independents. The games played were Equations, On-Sets, Propaganda, Democracy. and Tvff in Proof. The second team surprised every one by becoming Propaganda champions, while the first team won in Democracy. After each game, points were allotted according to standing. Fox Chapelis first team became the overall National Olympic team. Playoffs were held the last day to determine the individual games champions. Russ Ayres, Lynn Maguire, Jeff l'JeVore, Tom Slater, and John Boyer qualified for the playoffs. Russ won both the On-Sets championship and the Wff all Proof cham- pionship and came in second in the Equations playoff. liecause of his outstanding performance he was also named Best Senior Olympics Player. The Florida trip was not all work. Included in the four days were a cruise, a dance, and a Sunday beach party. The team re- turned with, if not a tan. a burn plus eleven trophies. 1 Il5
