COMMANDING OFFICER J CAPTAIN DAVID L. PECK COMMANDING OFFICER, USS FOX (CG-33) Captain David L. Peck was born in Springfield, Illinois on 29 May 1946. He was commissioned through the NROTC program in 1969 upon graduation from the University of Illi- nois with a Bachelor of Scie nce Degree in Physics. His initial sea assignment was a CICI Officer and Elec- tronic Warfare Officer on USS STERRET (CG 31) from 1969 to 1972. Subsequent sea tours included Weapons Offi- cer on USS LYNDE MCCORMICK (DDG 8) from 1976 to 1978, Executive Officer of USS JOHN YOUNG (DDG 973) from 1981 to 1983 and Commanding Officer of USS ROBINSON (DDG 12) from 1987 to 1989, earning the Bat- tle E . He assumed command of USS FOX (CG 33) in April 1991. Captain Peck has served ashore as the Officer Promotion Planner for the DCNO (Manpower, Personnel, and Train- ing) from 1978 to 1981, in the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1983 to 1987, an as Commanding Officer, Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity, San Diego from Sep- tember 1989 to March 1991. Captain Peck has a Master ' s Degree in Operations Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. He is a proven subspecialist in Operations Analysis. His personal awards include the Legion of Merit with Gold Star, Bronze Star with Combat V, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal with Gold Star and Combat V, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon. Captain Peck ' s wife, Carolyn, is from Lansing, Illinois. They have two children: James, age 13, and Michelle, age 6. What are you trying to tell me? LCDR DAVID D. BIGELOW Lieutenant Commander David D. Bigelow was born in 1955 in Germany, to parents stationed overseas in the United States Air Force. Upon graduating from the University of Washington, he was discharged from the Air National Guard, in which he attained the rank of Sergeant, in order to attend Naval Officer Candidates School, where he was commissioned in January 1978. His initial sea tour was on board USS HALSEY (CG-23) in engineering and combat systems billets. He has served as Operations Department Head in USS FLETCHER (DD-992) and USS JOSEPH STRAUSS (DDG-16). Ashore, Lieutenant Commander Bigelow attended the Naval Post Graduate School, receiving a Masters ■ Degree in Command, Control and Communications in i 1984, and the Armed Forces Staff College. He was also assigned to the staff of Commander-in-Chief, United States Space Command, in the Launch and Satellite Control Division. His personal awards include the Defense Meritori- ous Service Medal and the Navy Commendation Medal, with a gold star in lieu of a second award, as well as various campaign medals and service ribbons.
