PRAIRIE GOLD PROPHECY GF CLASS GF '28 In l950 while traveling over a beautiful metropolis in my sport model airplane with both helicopters whirling, I was stopped by one of the feminine air policewomen whom l recognized as Peg Hanson, a member of the Class of 1028. Stopping a while to chat with her 1 inquired about one .lames Dumas. another of the class, who, while in high school had been very fond of his dainty feet. She told me that he was manager of the lileuor Kennels of Fowler which town l was above. Deciding' to stop and see nlames, 1 turned on my tractor motors and dropped down, alighting on the private landing field at the Kennels. Xkhile chatting with blames he told me that Clarence Hagenbuch, a former classmate, was managing the Misfits, champion basketball players of Atkinson. lieing thus started on the subject of classmates, ,lim informed me that llarold Yanderipe was the basketball coach at Purdue University and that in his spare time he played the drums in a Salvation Army band. Ralph Shonkwiler, who was at present a telegraph operator at llarcc, had married llalcie Hamilton and after a few years of happy married life he was left broken-hearted as Halcie had run away with a traveling sales- man. lOh! these treacherous blondesl. 'lames asked me to stay and attend the new Airo Theater with him that evening. .-X hometown girl and boy, Sara Pfleeger and Keith Smith, were starring in The Yampire's Revengef' l also learned that Lewis Kenyon lloffine was airplane announcer at the International Air Line Field in New York. XYith great pride James pointed out to me the headlines in the latest issue of the llenton Review which stated that Martha Sampson had now gained great renown as the world's fastest typist, making 275 words a minute. Further examination of the paper revealed that Minnie Nunn, famous lion tamer of Ringling Brothers' Circus, was recovering from serious injuries received during a daring performance with her lions. Resuming his story, lim told me that Oakley llfcflain was a noted Senator, famous for his great oratorical ability. l 9 2 8 Page thirty-seven
