TOMMY THORNTON VOLUME XV FOREWCRD Since the centennial of the Civil War is being observed, and since there is located in the Four Oaks school district the site of one ofthe last famous battles of the Civil War, Bentonville has been chosen as the theme for this 1963 ACORN. Almost all ofthe Four Oaks School students have, at one time or another, visited the Harper House, the monuments, and the trenches at his- toric Bentonville. In fact, many of our students live in the surrounding area. Our gen- erals lead us through the battles and over the obstacles of our school days from age six to age eighteen. Not only are they our com- manding officers, but they are also our friends and companions. They give us helpful guid- ance so that we are able to come out of the battle with few scars and a good record of service. We lose some along the way as an army does, but those who receive that final dis- charge look back to these leaders with a thankful heart, glad that they have been pre- pared to meet the coming battles of life. Many thanks to our fine leaders! 'V MV E 5 SUUPSOU Mr. Worley Keene Johnston County superintendent Four Oaks High School Principal TR TION cs' --- . ' - -A.
