1 This yearbook was creatively fashioned by us for you. We, the COBRA stall, have labored nine months to give birth to this book. Now that we have reared it and watched it grow and mature, you could say that we are its parents. You, the foster parent of the book, can help tis see that the 1978 COBRA has a happy life. Be aware ol the cover, your picture, and the color pages. These are important characteristics ol any good yearbook. However, as with a person, the 1978 edition has its own special qualities which emphasize its individuality. For once, the book is more than just pictures. It tells the story of the year- YOl'R year. We, the staff, feel that it is essential that you read the copy to get the full meaning of the book. We have done our very best to give you a book that is something really special. So. please take time to enjoy all aspects of the book. We think that we have given more than you expected, because you deserve no less. We hope that you enjoy the 1978 COBRA and will treasure it in years to come. Stuart Smedley Judy Braughton EDITOR ASSISTANT EDITOR AND THE STAFF t DEDICATION No yearbook is complete without a dedication. It is given to someone who is dedicated to the students of Fountain Lake as well as the school itself. Someone a Student can turn to--not only as an advisor, but also as a friend. The 1978 Cobra Staff couldn’t have chosen a person that qualifies better. Her concern in the future of her students has made her a teacher admired by both students and faculty. Because she serves as an inspiration to all of us who know her, we proudly dedicate the 1978 Cobra Yearbook to: MRS. JUNE SMEDLEY 3 TO A FRIEND WE WILL NEVER FORGET SHARON DOUGAN Whether death comes to your loved one after a long and fruitful life or unexpectedly by accident, it comes with a suddenness, a shock, for which one can never wholly be prepared. We feel true sorrow when death separates us from friends. It leaves a hurt in our hearts that will never be healed, and the separation is hard to bear. So to you, Sharon Dougan, we dedicate this page because you are our friend. STUDENTS OF FOUNTAIN LAKE SCHOOL Probably, just now, this book means to you simply a collection of friends from whom you will get autographs, and before the year is gone, it will find itself on your shelf gathering dust. The best is yet to come; years from now you will open this book, and the meaning will he altogether different. It will bring hack the small things that make life great, perhaps a phrase a friend used in signing your annual, or perhaps an obscure little photograph with meaning to no one but you. It may be an important game, it may be a dance, it may be a special friend, but something or someone in this book will touch you years from now. I should like to take this opportunity to wish you the best of everything and may the years between then and now be happy ones for you. Irvin J. Bass Superintendent SUPERINTENDENT IRVIN J.
