' - 'T - • •• ; v - THE COBRA 1967 Fountain Lake High School Foreword Twenty years ago the first COBRA Y earbook was presented to the Student Body. Many changes have been made around the campus since then but, no matter how much you change the outer appearance of Fountain Lake, inside we are still students studying, playing and working together for the betterment of our school. Each giving a little of themselves so that the Cobra spirit might go on. Lots of things happen during a school year, and the main purpose of a yearbook is to record all these so that they might be remembered for many years to come. We, the COBRA staff, have endeavored to record all the memories and events of this year, so that 20 years from now you might remember the 1966-67 school year at Fountain Lake High School. And it is indeed a pleasure for us to present to you this The 1967 COBRA yearbook. Coach said, The Junior Boys have pledged to hustle in every game whether or not they win. As the season progressed, this pledge materalized into victory after victory. The Boys also proved to be the major trophy winners for the 1967 season bringing home three winners and one runners-up trophies. By winning the Area 11 tournament, the Boys became the first team from Fountain Lake to enter the State Tournament for several years. After numerous practices and plenty of hard work, the Senior Girls were ready to break the 1966 season's record - 0 - 15. They did. The Caddo Gap Girls fell beneath the determined scoring of fine forwards and the hustle of good guards. However, all too often, wins are accompanied by losses. This was true in the case of the Senior Girls. Yet, after a defeat, usually by a small margin, the team would discuss tactics and work on strategy to make a better showing the next game. The '67 squad was closer knit and had a better understanding of each other than any team that had come along in quite awhile. Perhaps, this was one reason why teamwork and sportsmanship prevailed throughout the season. As Coach LaFevers has said, Basketball is a sport, but if you are going to play - play to win. That is what the Senior Girls did. Georgetta Parker CO-CAPTAIN Merelene Nichols CAPTAIN LEFT TO RIGHT: H. Attebury, M. Nichols, S. Nichols, P. Shaw, D. Sorrells, C. Wood, L. Pittman, P. Teague, S. Those who work hard to see that everything goes well but hardly ever receive any recognition for it. They wrap swollen ankles, keep shot charts, and run all those little errands that Coach hasn't got time to do. And occasionally you'll even find them sweeping die gym floors. Without these very dedicated people the COBRA spirit could not go on. Cobra Cheerleaders Yells of GO FIGHT WIN can be heard from the 1967 cheerleader squad. They are from left to right; Pat Milroy, LaDonna Larsen. Captain; Mary Knox. Bonnie Hope. October became that special time of our school year. This was the month of the Student Council elections. ELECTION '66 was a wild, wooly, occasion for Fountain Lake students and especially for the candidates. In all of the hurry and hustle of making posters and writing campaign speeches, the candidates still found time to help one another; a most valuable lesson in democracy was derived from this experience. Election ’66 Steven tells why he should be elected Treasurer. Homecoming Action What's the matter Bill, someone move the basket? Gerald Hulsey leaps into action. The stage was beautifully decorated with pretty Cobra girls. Queen, Linda Partain, escorted by Sidney Pittman, receives a bouquet of roses from Mr. Roe. One, two, three, kick. Great style Steamer.
