f I I I FOUNTAIN LAKE SCHOOL Hot Springs, Arkansas 1958-59 In deep appreciation for her guidance, willingness to serve, and interest in the students of Fountain Lake, we the annual staff, dedicate this 1959 Cobra to Mrs. Oma Ziegler, who we have found to be a sympathetic friend, a wise counselor, and an interested and efficient guide in our every need. We hope you will enjoy this annual as much as we have enjoyed working on it and may it bring back many fond memories to each of you in the years to come. Fountain Lake Annual Staff 1958-59 Superintendent Roscoe Davis Secretary Mary Helen Nichols The administration congratulates the sponsor, annual staff, and student body for a job well done in publishing this yearbook. We realize that it is a difficult task, but that you will be well paid for your efforts in satisfaction as you scan through this book in years to come. In this 1959 edition of the Cobra you have portrayed the campus life of Fountain Lake High School and recorded experiences and events that will be cherished in years to come. Roscoe H. Davis •ScAoiy Doug Rice Glen Ford Bertha Lacy Glen Ford Lester Fowlks Lester Fowlks Katherine Breitenburg Maurice Starr Geraldine Newkirk Jack Bridges Juanita Pruitt Ruth Ross Stell John Doster Lewin Newcomb Jeanne Prokop Bill Sargo Earnest Smith, Warren Watson, Lonnie Herron, Wayne Watson, Sam Powell, Johnny James COOKS Lily Wyatt Gertrude Barrick JANITOR Richard Herron Roy Lee Hipp Secretary Babs Shaw Charles Hipp Reporter Barbara Blocker Jimmy Cash Georgia Harrison Eugene Watson Vice President Pat Bars President W. L. Garner Treasurer Jewel Breshears Walter Fowlks Pauline Wilson JIMMY CASH has certainly advanced a long way as a surgeon. The reason is because he likes to get rid of trouble. Know a better way than cutting it out. CELESTE BEARDEN is now trying to take care of her home and husband and the three little basketball players as well. They all love basketball and will someday play like pop Mick. Fountain Lake has a new coach that is really pushing his teams to the top. GENE WATSON is going to collect those tropheys and get those cases filled. All the marines are on the run these days chasing a new recruit, BABS SHAW. She entered the United States Marines to help Uncle Sam out, but it is turning out quite worthwhile if she can meet all the guys. HAROLD WARD is a real hero. He’s a test pilot in a Datona Beach Airfield. He has proved many new planes. He is quite a dare devil but he gets paid for it. PAULINE WILSON keeps busy minding three youngsters. They are the smartest, cutest, and sweetest kids in the world, Doyle thinks; but Polly says he just doesn’t have to keep the little angels all day. All eyes are watching styles change in art these days and SUE ZEIGLER is certainly helping them change. Nowadays one can't tell the difference in Sue’s art and primitive art of the ages. You call this commercial? PAT BARS is now the first woman Governor of the state. Since W. L. is a Congressman, she has to hold a higher position so she'll be boss. ROY HIPPisnowa lawyer. He takes great pride in defending both guilty and innocent. Roy Lee always was good at talking his way out of things. LINDA FERGUSON can’t seem to keep her feet on the ground these days since she is a stewardess on one of the giant constellations. I hear the pilot is giving her a rush. Guess maybe she'll settle down pretty soon. Women are looking younger these days since BARBARA BLOCKER is operating her own beauty shop, and designing mud packs on the side. JEWELL BRESHEARS is now appearing on the Grand Ole Opera, singing and dishing in the money. She is an idol of many. A top notch nurse these days is JOYCE BRESHEARS. She strictly enjoys working in this field and sharing her ready smile with all. There certainly is a lot of magic in a few electrons when CARL EDDS goes to work. Who would think he could send a rocket to the moon and back with electrons. JERRY ROBBINS just finished his apprenticeship in printing. He is on his way now to making his ink write his fortune for him. This year’s Congressman of the year is W. L. GARNER. His work is good and his conscience is clear because he has reached his goal by honesty and integrity. Are you having trouble with your car’ If so, take it to a real mechanic. Take it to RICHARD BECKWITH'S Fix-em-up Garage and the job will be done right. Fashions have hit a new peak in sales this year since SHARON NEIGHBORS has started designing Daisy Mae all occasion clothes. Beware though, don’t get caught by a wolf, you little chicks. Our favorite leisure boy of the year is FLOYD OUTLER. He's a millionaire, so why work, Uncle Sam will get his share anyway. People all over the world are taking their problems to a wonderful psyciatrist. They say you can tell your troubles to CAROLE PARKER and forget all about them. She says its just a process of massaging the brain in warm soapy water. SAM POWELL, the salesman, is now a state trooper. He rides his motorcycle through the streets of Benton directing traffic so the beautiful dolls can get across safely. Our Dallas secretary is CAROLYN PLYER. Working with a tall handsome man may be quite a pleasure. Wonder how long it will be before she is the boss. Working with a staff surgeon is quite a pleasure to IONE RITTER, especially when he is young, eligible, and handsome. Millionsof basketball fans are watchinga new player for Syrucuse wind his way to the top. JOE ROBERTSON is on his way to the top in the world of sports. All the animals run these days when they see WALTER FOWLKS coming toward them with a needle and a little black bag. After all he is a veterinarian. My how styles are changing in homes these days. CHARLES HIPP has designed a new modern home with the much desired ’’backward look. ’’ GEORGIA HARRISION wanted to be Mrs. Joe Ross, and from the looks of things she is. Mr. and Mrs. Ross have a little Ross that keeps them busy making changes.
