If someone would have walked down the halls of Fountain, they would have thought it was the scene of the biggest modern day Greek-Roman Toga party ever. Thursday brought out the spirit of the beach. Those who participat- ed on that day looked like theyjust came in out of the sun. The bright colors, sun hats, sunglasses and shorts gave the day a very realistic atmosphere. Friday, many came to show their school spirit in color, by wearing red, white and blue. ' Lv, .Q 1 r Q r yi? F2 3? yi fl' 3-ik gm Nw- M W- Q V , A .- S A..MmNmwq7,.,qwN . Hg. . Q? The candidates for the Homecoming court had their moment of glory when they were announced and escort- ed onto the Held. The decorations and the fans, were the scene for a winning combination, but things just didn 't go as planned. The game started, and it looked as though the rebels were an even match for the Trojans. Each of the two teams went into the game wanting to win. For the Trojans, the desire was there, but team unity wasn't. Every team has had its losses, and for the Trojans, it was the homecoming game. This year three Fountain Ft. Carson High School stu- dents were so honored. Cedrick Smith, senior, was voted to the all- state football team and named Gazette Tele- graph All Area Offensive Player of the Year, He led the state in touchdowns with 20, and he ranked second in rushing with 1,186 yards. He's probably one of the best running backs I've ever coached, and one of the smartest young men, too. He gave 100 per cent, said Richens Smith, head football coach. Selected as the best basketball player in the Pikes Peak League this season was Todd Turn- er, senior. Turner was nominated as the number one player to represent the PPL in the Colorado High School Coaches Association all-state game this july in Denver. Turner led the PPL in scoring, averaging 23.5 points per game. He led his Trojan team in rebounds, 10.4 per game, and assists per game, 4.5. Todd is certainly deserving. He could be the best at his position Iamong AA playersj, said Evan Dalrymple, head basketball coach. Alicia Stewart, senior, was nominated for the all-state basketball game as the Pikes Peak League's best senior female player. She averaged 12 points and eight rebounds per game and set a single-season school record for steals, 76. Stewart also tied Wanda Turner and Rhonda Moreland for most career games played, 58. She's probably one of the most complete basketball players l've ever had, said Craig Kimble, girl's basketball coach. Top to bottom: Cedwick Smith, Todd Turner, and Alicia Stewart. ... f .. .... Q.. Under the guidance of Mrs. Sommer, advisor, the staff strove to meet each dead- line. In order to produce each issue of the paper, news stories were first typed on the word processor and then printed. Once this job was completed, the stories were cut out to Ht the appropriate space on the layout sheet and then glued onto it. After that procedure was done, the paper was ready to go to the print- ers. Because of this, Stu- dent Council has a good size work force, along with the leadership, to get things done. An example of this was Homecoming week. During this week, Student Council raised over 5400 with different fund-raising events. A large portion of Student Council members were enrolled in the Student Leadership class. In this class, the stu- dents accomplished all of Student Council's busy work. This has sped up our production and taken a large amount of pressure from Student Council as a whole.
