ALRIGHT Far away in Orlando, Florida a new phrase had been implanted in the minds of Future Business Leaders from all over the South — it's gonna be alright! Little did anyone know that there was one small Arkansas chapter represented at that Fall Southern Leadership Conference to whom these four words fit perfectly. That chapter, of course, was none other than the one made up of Future Business Leaders from Fouke High School. And, it has been right. Since the beginning of the Fouke chapter in 1981, Fouke Future Business Leaders have certainly had their share of achievements and successes. Beginning with Rodney LaCrone as Fouke's first ticket to the national convention in 1982, Fouke has attended every other national convention either because of a first place state winner or a state or district officer from Fouke. Because of this, Fouke Future Business Leaders have traveled as far away as Indianapolis and San Francisco. Has FBLA been a success? YES! responded adviser Frances Jones, when asked this question. I feel that FBLA has helped students make business connections after graduation and I think we are making leaders. There's no doubt that FBLA has produced some outstanding leaders from Fouke. Rodney LaCrone, a member of Fouke's first FBLA chapter, is now the state President for Phi Beta Lambda, the college equivalent of FBLA. Senior Tony Walden has also exemplified outstanding leadership ability in becoming Fouke's first district officer and state Vice-President. In the future, Fouke will undoubtedly enter numerous students in competitive business events at district and state level. Those students playing Executive Games hope to once again pride Fouke with first place. Sophomore John Coward and junior Toni Crabtree have planned on running for district and state offices. As far as winning goes, well, it couldn't have been said better than the words of Fouke's own adviser, We always have won and we always will. Serving refreshments after the back-to-school FBLA orientation is junior Kim Walraven. Senior Sherry Lafayette reads the minutes of the previous meeting during an activity-period FBLA meeting. 16 Organizations A I SALES INC. Top - Kelli Eaves gives her campaign speech. Above right - They're so bad they know they're good!! Above - Some of the Beta members campaign for Kelli Eaves at state convention. Right - The Beta Club officers are - Jimmy Cowart, V. President; James Harris, Treasurer; Michelle Laxton, Historian; Kelli Eaves, Secretary; Jamie Scott, President; Susie Batte, Reporter. The Beta Club was involved in many different activities this year. For their money making projects they sold snacks and doughnuts once a month. They made Christmas baskets and gave them out, built the Football Homecoming Float, and entered another float in the 4 States Fair Parade. The Beta Club nominated Kelli Eaves to be a candidate for state secretary. All the members worked very hard trying to get Kelli elected. Not only did they campaign for her at convention they also helped her with her skit and signs. Although Kelli didn't win, each member learned something from this experience. The Beta Club also entered a skit in the talent competition, they dressed up like the Chicago Bears and did the Superbowl Shuffle; the audience loved it so much that it ranked highest in audience participation. Even though they didn't win the talent competition the Bears still won the Superbowl!!! Compliments Of Organizations 15 TEXARKANA NATIONAL BANK 792-7166 100 W. BROAD TEXARKANA, TX
