Mary Sprayberry - Raymond Caswell The name Miss Mary is one of the best known names at Fouke High School. She has served as secretary for the past 25 years. Mary Sprayberry was born in Vivian, Louisiana. She graduated from Fouke in 1940 and has remained here since that time. She held many types of jobs after graduation. Some of these included being a clerk at Newberry’s, at Red River Depot, at Safeway, and as a telephone operator. In September of 1945, Mrs. Sprayberry accepted the job as Fouke Secretary. She became known as Miss Mary to everyone. She has been an important part of our school. As our school grew, Miss Mary’s knowledge of bookkeeping grew with it. This knowledge is well known and the government has yet to come up with a form she cannot handle.

So many things happen at school from day to day. Even though these pictures capture only a few of these everyday happenings at our school, we will remember just about everything. As we grow, our memories will grow with us. And they will always remain a part of each and everyone.

Raymond Caswell has served on our school board for the past 25 years. He is a hard-working, dedicated board member who has done much to help improve our educational facility. He is an Oklahoma native moving here in 1932. He started farming as a share cropper but later owned his farm. In 1959 he built a modern cotton gin. Valley Gin, where the local farmers could bring their cotton crops to be baled and shipped to market. He is a professional cotton grader and buyer as well as a farmer and cattleman. He is very active in farm-related activities. At the present time he is President of Miller-Bowie County Farmers’ Association and holds officer positions in several others. Also, he is active in church and community affairs. He helped to organize Haley Lake Church and has been a deacon for the past 44 years. He has won several awards including Who's W7ho in Arkansas and the local Friend to education. Mr. Caswell and Miss Mary have been with our school for a quarter of a century. Their character, honesty, and integrity have never been questioned. They are truly devoted to the responsibilities that go with the positions they hold. These reasons, and many more, are why the annual staff, on behalf of the students and teachers of Fouke School, do dedicate the ’79 Panther Yearbook to them. It is just a small way of saying . . . jr Wi sGf' v aJHI V w
