Mr. spd. .. my E 21-All seniors interested in Baldwin-Wallace College hear the college representative. 22--Wrestlers were supposed to travel to Rogers but it was postponed because of floods. 23-The Rogers basketball game is also canceled because the FHS team is unable to get through. 24-The FHS basketball team stays at home and makes a dashing victory over Willard-53-59. 27-Redmen travel to Rogers and lose for the second time this year-55-57. 29-Sylvania comes to Fostoria and tramples the wrestlers -8-33. 30-Sylvania comes to Fostoria again but loses-68-45. February 2-Ground Hog Day proves that cold weather is in store. 2-Y-Teens take their fathers out. John Naiisen speaks at the Y-Teen Banquet, Faith in Freedom. 3-All FHS students ioin in a big song fest under the direc- tion of Charles King. A 4-6-Seniors take aptitude test under the direction of the Ohio State Employment Service. 5-Wrestlers travel to Sylvania and are downed-8-33. 5-The four classes rival each other in the One-Act Play Contest. The iuniors win first place and the seniors place second. 6-On the home court the Redmen prove victorious over Bowling Green-59-53. 6- Senior Scag Day. - 10-An assembly was held in which Mike Sumner, a traveler to the South Sea Islands, showed a movie and talked of his adventures. 12- Look at the-birdy. Individual pictures for the annual are taken. Q i2- Happy birthday, Abe. I 13-Lucky Friday the l3th! Redmen travel to Clay and win the Great Lakes League Championship-66-64. i4-i5-i ll band members spend a big weekend in Xenia. i6-Hi-Y and Y-Teen members enioy togetherness at the ioint meeting entitled Guys and Dolls. I9-Wittenberg College representative talks to those inter- ested. 20--The Redmen have an unfortunate loss at the tournament in the new Fremont Ross gym. Eastwood scored 49 points to Fostoria's 43 points. Thus the basketball season ends with a record of I6-3, the best ever put out by Fostoria High. 22- Happy birthday, George. 26-High-School students enioy an interesting assembly on science facts. 28-lnstrumental and vocal ensembles and soloists iourney to Bucyrus for the OMEA district music competition.

December 2-Civil Defense meeting at Tiffin to discuss problems of the school building. 3--Suzanne Richardson and Sue Kovacs take the Daughters of the American Revolution test. 3-Representative came from Miami University to talk to the seniors. 4-National Honor Talent Assembly- Top Hat Club -- excellent lighting and stage setting. 4--The wrestling team suffered their first defeat from Sandusky. 5-Redmen win another one! 55-5l over Rogers on the home court. 9--Redmen beat Bellevue, 44-37, in the FHS gym. lO-The circulation staff give their assembly to promote the sales of the Fohirab. ll-Fremont Ross downs the wrestling team on our mats, 5-42. l3-Several Drivers' Training students travel to Bee Gee to take part in a Traffic Convention. l4-The vocal and instrumental departments give their win- ter concert. I8-Glenn Morris presents a scientific assembly. I8-Wrestling team encounters first win of the season- 25-22. i9-Redmen coast to another win. This time they beat Whitmer on the home court-63-27. 20-Redmen suffer first defeat against the Findlay Troians, 54-64. ' 22-The Journal came out with the new look . 22-The wrestling team is downed again, this time by Toledo Central Catholic-lO-37. 23-The choir presents an assembly. 23-School gets out for the Christmas vacation. 26-27-Bryan Carnival for basketball players. 26--Redmen beat Defiance at the carnival-53-52. 27-Bryan is toppled by Redmen--5l-48. 29-The Snowball Dance for the student body is sponsored by the iuniors. January 5-School doors open to start another year of school. 84Toledo Clay wins over FHS wrestlers-8-41. 9-The seniors travel to Tiffin to take the scholarship test. 9-Redmen topple Bee Gee-67-51-on the Bobcats' court. 10-Redmen win another one at home. Fremont-36, Fostoria-62. 12-14-Midnight oil burns as students cram for exams. l3-Wrestlers win a match with Waite, 26-19, in the FHS gym. I5-A 23-23 wrestling match is held in the FHS gym with Bowling Green. 16-Redmen chalk up another win on the home court. Clay -52, Redmen-62. l6-Students can have a new start because the first semester ends.

March l-The orchestra, dance band, and senior band present the annual winter instrumental music concert. 2-Y-Teens present the Easter Parade of,Fashions with Mrs. Walter Davidson as the guest speaker. 5--Several seniors and iuniors take a test on'the United Nations. I 6-An enioyable time is had at the dance for freshmen. 15-All vocal groups present an impressive program for the annual winter choir concert. l7-Kiwanis Club sponsors Career Day for sophomores, iuniors, and seniors of Fostoria and St. Wendelin high schools. I 20-Many science students iourney to Clay for the league science day. ' 23-24-Hi-Y and Y-Teens give early morning Easter services. 25-The high-school students attend the Easter assembly with Father Bowers as the speaker. 25-Easter vacation begins. Three whole days of vacation. 31-Back to school. 31-All science students work hard on projects. Local science day is held at FHS. April l-April Fool! . 3-Students enioy an assembly with Dr. Myer. 4-Science students get their proiects working again. District Science Day at Bowling Green State University. 9-FHS is honored to have the Ohio State University Symphonic Choir in an assembly. IO-ll-Juniors and seniors combine their acting efforts this year and present The Egg and l. l4-Science students receiving a superior at the District Science Day journey to Capital University for State . Science Day. l8-19--Fostoria is invaded by the Xenia Band for the week- end. Old friendships are renewed. 24-Y-Teens annual spring dance, April Love. May l-The climax of the Hi-Y club year is the annual Sweet- heart Dance. 4-New Y-Teen officers are installed. I3-The year ends for National Honor members with the annual banquet. 18--Y-Teens say farewell to the seniors when the '59-'60 cabinet takes over for the last meeting. 22-The seniors work together as a class for the last time to present the senior assembly. After the assembly the seniors are out of school. 22-Seniors and iuniors enioy their last school whirl of the year at the Junior-Senior Prom entitled Sayonara. 24-Baccalaureate. 27-Underclassmen finally have their last full day of school for 1959. 28-Commencement. Seniors take the long walk across the stage for that long-cherished diploma. 29-Students return for grade cards. When they leave, the old doors close behind them as they look forward to the future.
