TUNIOR 1-HGH FOOTBALL The Iunior High football team came through the season winning two games, tying two, and losing three. Outstanding players on this squad were Dick Tinney and Gordon McLeod as halfbacks: Ronnie Ladines as a fullback. Bob Roetter and Doug Ring- enbach were quarterbacks and Ierry Halbert was the yardage-gaining end. Ierry made four runs each averaging over 70 yards. Other outstanding linemen were Iohn McAbee, who received the Ir. High Inspirational Award, and Bud Roetter as a run-stopping guard. The game with Lake Washington ended with Foster eight yards from a touchdown. The game with Bellevue on the four-yard line. With a season well played, these boys brought the team to fourth place. This year's game scores were: Foster 21-0 Mt. Si: Foster 14-7 O'Dea: Foster 12-13 Lake Washing- ton: Foster 6-13 Redmond: Foster 20-20 Bothell: Fos- ter 20-6 Issaquah: Foster 0-0 Bellevue. BASKETBALL Although the frosh had a slow start this season, they built up to a mid-season rally under Mr. Neu- dorf's coaching. The last games were the most diffi- cult, but even though the freshmen lost them, they gained some valuable experience. 5. The eighth graders didn't see much action this year, losingtheir only two games to Lake Wash- ington. The seventh graders played in an inter- district league. Tying with Showalter for top honors, they had a play-off during half time of the senior game. The seventh grade won by a two-point lead to come out on top of the league. The frosh game scores Were: Foster 24-29 Kent Meridian: Foster 22-31 O'Dea: Foster 37-51 Kent Meridian: Foster 27-22 Issaquah: Foster 24-23 Red- mond: Foster 25-26 Mt. Fifth row: Ioan Hill, Sandy Brokaw, Pat Ahern, Nancy Redelf, Ioan Lampley, Pat Olson, Mary Steene, Delores Schmaltz, Donna Davidson. lUNIOR HIGH G.A.A. l:'oster's newly-formed Iunior High G.A.A. was launched to a fine start this year under the leader- ship of Mrs. Carlyn Wickman, adviser. These girls, about thirty in number, had turnouts once each week and one playday. All were proud of this junior edition of athletic members of the fairer sex at Foster. . . 5 Last year's trackmen, under the able coaching of Mr. Werner Neudorf, set league records for three track events and two field events. These were the 440 relay, the lOO-yard dash, the 880 94 Q1 relay, the shot put, and the broad jump. ln the first meet of this year, Foster lost to Bothell 43 to 29. In the second, they won from Issaquah with a score of 64 to 5. The third was a triangular meet in which Foster led with 56 points over Redmond with 21 V2, and Lake Washington With QV2. The fourth was a dual meet with Bellevue, which again found Foster the Winner-48-21. Foster is the defending titalist in the coming championship seven-way meet with Mt. Si, Redmond, Lake Washington, Issa- quah, Bellevue, and Bothell. With the fine record up to date, there's no doubt that Foster will return wearing laurels. Always ready with a rousing cheer were the spirited cheer- leaders Patty Fegan, left, and Emilie Ellison. Hard to beat were the mighty men of the track team.
