Always on hand to help this hard-working group were Mrs. losephine Waldo, adviser, and Brunhilde Regel, editor. Mrs. Waldo, Sieglinde Hegel, Lois Kristrom, assistant editorg Marysue Bruce, Sally Fegan and Lorena Scharer attended the 1953 Annual Workshop held Saturday, September 26, at the University of Washington. The purpose of the workshop is to give editors and staff members many useful ideas for planning their yearbook. A friendly, lively book with a timely theme, was the general comment made by the National Scholastic Press Association on last year's book. lt was awarded first class honors. Thanks go to Mr. Bussell Graves of the North Pacific Bank Note Company for the help he has so freely given in the produc- tion of this yearbook. As years go by the Klahowyah, which means Hello, friend, will mean more and more to those reminiscing of the good old days at Foster. Published under the direction of Miss Grace Gylling and editor, Mary Ann Gavin, the paper was never absent when Thursday rolled around. Betty Russell was managing editor, Mel Murray, sports editor. lournalism students could be found any time of the day tracking down stories-usually rushing to meet their Tuesday dead- line. lo Anne Greene, LuRae lohnson, George Iohanson, Lorena Schafer, Sally Fegan, Carol Ann Ives, Mary Swope, Sheila Scoones, and Ray Larson were reporters. The Growler sent delegates to the annual P. S. S. P. Conference held at the University of Washington. Delegates from eight western states attended this conference held February l9 and 20. DEBATE CLUB Examining and expounding the many- sided complexities ot Fair Employment Practices laws was this year's debate team, most ably coached by Mrs. Na- dine Love. Pins were awarded those who partici- pated in three-iiiths of the debatesg guards, to second-year students. Debaters participated in both the King County and Puget Sound Leagues. On February 20, Poster tied for sixth place in the P.S.L. tournament, one place re- moved from going to the State tourna- ment. The purpose ot this Spastic Aid group is to create an interest in and understanding for those who have cerebral palsy. Spades are a city wide organization. Mr. and Mrs. B. O. Miller sponsored Eoster's Spade group and Mrs. Mabel Provo was iaculty adviser.
