Both the Choir and Glee Club appeared at the Bellevue Kingco Conference Festival March l8.t April 3 found them at the College of Puget Sound for rating. Easter Sunday morning the Choir's singing added to the beauty of the sunrise service at River- ton Crest Cemetery. The Spring Music Festival was the last exten- sive program for these groups. Although it was a lot of hard work, band mem- bers admitted it was fun competing in the Western Washington Music Educators' Association Contest, held here at Foster April 24. Twenty-six Washing- ton junior and senior high bands competed. Milma Makela and Barbara Cady were chosen to represent Foster in the All-State Band, held in Yakima. Mr. Brown went as conductor of the saxo- phone section. Foster band also took part in the KinQCo Con- ference Music Festival held at Lake Washington March 26. The year ended with the Spring Concert May 14, at which all the music departments were represented.

Song poured forth from Room 42 where the Choir and Glee Club, under the direction of Mr. Angelo Manzo, prepared for many events. Mr. Manzo also organized many smaller groups such as the nonette, quartettes, and mixed ensemble choruses. The Choir consisting of seventy-five members, and the Glee Club of forty, performed beautifully at the Christmas Festival. On March 6, they and the smaller groups took part in the solo contest at Clover Park. Certificates were awarded to Rex Rice, Pete Testa, Ralph Bagby, and Gary Cleasby. The choir performed with a song in their hearts. Every morning first period many Foster students liked to walk past the band room just to hear a little of the Music, Music, Music. Band was so big and busy this year that Bar- bara Gouge was chosen president, Dorothy Under- wood, secretary: and a representative from each class in band was appointed to help lead it on. The band started off to new and greater heights again this year, beginning with the Labor Day Parade at Issaquah. Mr. Brown, band director, planned half-time activities at football games, to the delight of all the rooters.
