Tlll ARROW QL Q ,ms sf., at Q, 1. ., , 2, li saw, X Vsgtgx, f ,gym , ' r ' II .lf tree I E MMM hh- SCHOOL HISTORY As a result of the oil boom in 1921, Foster High School was built to care for the greater nu hers of high school students living in this co munity. Since Mr. H. V. Foster, a wealthy oil man, donated the land upon which Foster now stands, the school was named in honor of him. In 1951 the building was completed and ready for classes. The first graduating class had only five members. The next year there were thirteen, and each succeeding year the number has continued to increase. Originally Foster was a country school known as District 60, its boundary being three miles square with Valley Brook as the center of the district. Later, in the year 1936, Foster was accepted as a mem- ber of the Oklahoma City school system. During its existence Foster has had five principals: Dr. Hodges, Mr. Nance, Mr. Fisk, Mr. Burr, and our present principal, Mr. Grady. with steady increase in enrollment, the need for additional space became so great that a gymnasiu and two rooms were added to the origi- nal six rooms and auditorium. In 1955 the last addition was made, in- cluding two more rooms, a shop and the landscaping of the grounds. These three additions to the high school building have done much to make Foster the school of which we are all so proud today.
