Jew GMU The Latin Club was organlzed 1D l9M8 under the sponsor ship of Miss Crouch, temporary cnair an, Clarence Humbles, and secretary, Gay Bee Goudy It lS stated 1U the constitutlon that there are to be slx meetings per year Tae o lcers ar elected the last meetlng of the calendar year, and the new officers take office the first meeting of the new calendar year The purpose of the club is to give the members a better understanding of the Latln language and of the Romans who spoke it The first offlcers were plesldent, Clarence Humbles, v1ce president, Juene Hunt, secretary, Sherry Rash, treasur er, Jim Deakyne, and social chairman, Sue Cummins The vlce president is also the program chalrman Officers elected for the present year are president, Bob Norrls, vlce president, Jim Deakyne, secreatarv, Helen Sharrett, tr asurer, Peter McKay, and social chalrman, rl ne Lummis the SUDeTViS1OH of Miss Crouch and Mr Owens The purpose of the student council is to advise the student body ln thelr class problems and to vote on new mea sures brought up by the individual classes from the grades seven to twelve Each class is represented in the council by twomembers, one boy and one glrl, and they are chosen by their class members Two faculty advlsers are appointed each year to help conduct the meetings The members of the student coun cil are choosen on their ab1l1ty to fit the position and their willingness to speak for their class The officers for the student councll organlzatlon are the President, Vice Presldent, and the Secretary The offi cers are selected by the student council members and are voted upon by the entire high school student body The student council holds their meetings the first Tues day following the six weeks grading period The meetings are held under the supervision of the two facutly advlsers, Mrs Jefry and Mr Harris The two important measures voted on this year the Student Council were the purchasing of class sweaters he sophomore year and the purchasing of class jewlery the junior year These two measures were favored greatl he student body as well as by the council members The officers of the student council are President Turman Rushton Vice Presldent James Whelchel Secretary Margie Duzan I I Q ' m A .
