He accomplished his work with a dig- nity and devotion that gave significance to the smallest task and made the hardest work seem less difficult. To say that he will be sadly missed does not begin to express our sorrow for his loss. Sue Bramwell Editor This has been a truly memorable year. In an effort to conquer space, man suc- ceeded in putting a satellite in orbit around the sun, and from another satellite was broadcast a message of good will. First to go under the ice of the North Pole was the atomic submarine, the Nautilus. Alaska became our forty-ninth state, adding a new star to the flag. It is hoped that Hawaii will soon be admitted, Here at school, we participated in an economy run, with Penny Neville winning in our district. Our band was chosen to play at the East-West game during Christmas vacation. Retiring this year are Assistant Principal Raymond Stenback and Coach Bob Damon. Mr. Stenback will long be remembered as financial adviser to school organizations and friend to many of our students and graduates. Not only has Mr. Damon established a fine record for coaching, but his students will never forget his kindness and understanding. Mrs, Logan Rooney, a well loved former teacher, has given up her place on the Board of Trustees this year, being replaced by Mr, A. P, Gladden. 'ML Edgar Petersen, popular custodian who has served the school for many years, was unable to return last fall because of serious illness. Malcolm Niles, Clnass of 1956, was this year awarded the degrees of Star American Farmer and Pacific Regional Farmer, Regional Farmer is an honor won by only three other young men in the United States this year. This has been a year of accomplishment in many fields of endeavor and the future is limitless and challenging. 6
