White, Layton, Bronson, Heback, Notley, Fitch, Day, Payne, Felt. Elementary Qrchestra The Elementary Orchestra under the direction of Miss Dorothy Dale has made marked improvement since the beginning of the year. It is 7 la1'ger and better balanced and every member is becoming mo1'e proficient in playing in time and in tune. There are eighteen members enrolled this year, which snows that there is an increased interest in orchestral work. Most of the members will be admitted to the advanced orchestra or to the band next year. This is the second year our school has been able to maintain two orchestras. At the first of each year the elementary orchestra has to start practically at the beginning because it is almost entirely composed of new members. The Student Body was entertained with several selections by the ele- mentary group during the yeai'. The music studied is varied in character. Egyptian, gypsy, and descriptive music has proved to be the most popular with the novices. Page S7 I

These hopes were agreeably realized for the band, under Miss Dorothy Dale's efficient lead- ership, has made rapid progress. Students no longer pity the instructor and anyone near enough to hear when they are practicing. There was only one girl out of the nineteen members but it is hoped that more girls will be interested next year. The band showed its spirit and pep when it played for the basketball games on our home court during the season. This gave the players Valuable practice in playing before the public. This year is the first time the band has played for the Music Festival at Eureka. I Page SG i.
