From the very first dual meet with Trinity Christian High School, the team pinned down almost every match it competed in. Under the leadership of Coach Joe Murph and Coach Terry Rayl, the team showed improvement with each tourna- ment. After Trinity Christian, the team wrestled such teams as Trimble Tech and St. Mark's. At the District Tournament, held at St. Mark's, David Bonham placed first and Chris Springer placed third. At the Austin Wrestling Invitational, Robert Simon placed first, Eric Tippit placed second, and John Jones and David Bonham placed third. The individual efforts were fantastic, especially that of Robert Simon, who was undefeated the whole season. The Middle School team won the Ft. Worth Wrestling Club invitational.
