Let's Get Together After eoch long grueling week of hord work, the Lower School students ond teochers looked forword to o breok. Every Fridoy morning from eight-thirty to nine, the Lower School hod on ossembly. Eoch closs wos ossigned to coordinote two pro- groms per yeor for their clossmotes. These progrorns included short ploys ond skits. Some speciol progroms included the kindergorten's circus, cornporoble to Ringling Brothers ond Bor- num ond Boiley's, ond o reol western rodeo. The librorions or- ronged speciol ossernblies for three noted outhors. Borboro Cor- coron lectured on onirnol stories ond mysteries. Steven Kellogg, picture book writer, influenced the fifth grode to write picture books for the Kindergorteners to reod. Poet Ashley Bryons eloquence ornozed the children ond exponded their knowledge on Africon folk toles. Other interesting ossemblies included the Book Chorocter Porode ond the Tolent Show. Eoch fifth grode student become o chorocter ond reviewed the book he reod. The third grode took on the responsibility of orgonizing the Lower School Tolent Show. They did everything from judg- ing to preporing the progroms. Mrs, Lee Buchonon is not frightened by the Kindergartens bicycling beors. lysis: wir ww, Wi? Wm? All Lower School students took generol music two doys per week. Grodes one through four were toughr by Mrs. Irene Kilborne ond grode five by Mr. Alon Potts. Students por- ticipoted in musicol discovery using xylophones ond percussion in- struments os well os singing ond movement. String instruments were offered os on elective for students in grodes three through five. The Middle School orchestro wos divided into two closses - beginner ond intermediote. The beginners worked in smoll groups to Ieorn bosics while the intermediotes leorned to ploy in lorge groups. Upper School orchestro hod severol different sections. The or- chestrct for odvonced ployers occomponied the Upper School theoter production. The Lob Bond Clozz Ensemble? consisted of the bross, percussion, ond sox ployers. They worked onjozz music ond performed severol times. The Chomber orchestro for odvonced ployers seemed to be the showcase of the Upper School or- chestrol deportment by performing oround the city. The theoter, heoded by Mr. Al Violo, wos os lively os ever. The Middle School Theotre Mochine put on The Sound of Music while the sixth groders performed some short ploys. The Upper Schoolers performed South Pacific in the spring. The technicol crew worked ond supplied the stoge props for oll the performonces. Upper School theoter students proctice for South Pacific.
