General studies consists of requirements and electives drawn from the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. The division provides neither specialized nor vocational instruction. Its purposes are to explore, integrate, and apply truth as found within its disciplines, and to func- tion with the other two divisions, assisting the student to formulate a Christian worldview and a unified concept of truth, and to equip the student to function criti- cally and constructively' as a servant-leader ine contemporary world. The content ofthe General Studies Divi- sion consists of the knowledge, skills. atti- tudes and values which enable an individ- ual to see from a distinctive Christian perspective those areas of life common to all human beings. lfi The aim of the Professional Studies Divi- sion is to provide degree programs which build on the calling, talents, and gifts of the student in preparing that person for vocational ministry in and through the Church. The vocations embraced by this division are multifaceted and may involve service in congregations, mission agen- cies, educational institutions. or other ministry organizations. The intent of the division is to develop leaders who possess professional skills and spiritual maturity which strengthen the local body of believ- ers and to enable the leaders to function competently in their chosen vocations.
