The programs this year consisted of two plays. But, Lord ! and Woodshed, plus some dramatic readings on self-concept. The first act of the 45-minute drama But, Lord ! was written by Miss Strahm. The schedule had performances nightly plus a per- formance at a Christian school where the troupe gave tips to upcom- ing actors. As a C.S. group, HIS Company is a different but effective form of com- municating the truth of Iesus Christ and His principles. Florida was a good experience and we enjoyed meeting new people. Multi-media presentations were given on the development of a but- terfly Canalogous to the Christian lifel, and on the work of the master Potter. Various faculty members pre- sented the Community Lifestyle series and a series of messages on the Psalms, and on qualities such as patience and peace. Person to Person was a new event put together by Ioy Cerig and Russ Rogers, designed to help students become better ac- quainted with members ofthe family at BC. SMF gave students the oppor- tunity to gain new insights on mis- sions: and music chapels gave mem- bers ofthe BC family a chance to lift their voices together in praise to the Lord. The Christian Service Department added its con- tribution with Coaching Classes and a concert by the Christian Service Musical Groups. Some of the most treasured times with the family were the testimony chapels when students could share items of prayer and praise. Wednesdays chapels were reserved for Student Services and Student Association to present Thirty Minutes, a program intended to bring the student up to date on matters concerning campus life. Altogether, these chapels helped to bring a spiritual uplift into the day. Two natures beat Within my breast. The one I love, The other hate. Youth Conference '79 I've always wanted to know what it would be like, The Youth Confer- ence, I mean. Upperclassmen and even freshmen talked about past Youth Conferences, their faces lit up in anticipation. This year's confer- ence was guided by Terry White fchairmanj and Nancy Raney tassis- tant chairmanj, with the advisory help of Sharon Iacobsen, Dr. Wes Gerig and Dr. Hoatson. Together these people prepared the budget, formed and supervised twenty com- mittees, chose the dates, and gener- ally put the whole conference together. They also came up with the theme, On Track, inspired by Proverbs 3:61 In all you do put God first, and He will direct you . . . Set in a weekend in April, but planned for almost as far back as the previous summer, it highlights the spring semester. Yet one is never aware of the conference till the few weeks before it actually takes place. In chapel a spiritual-emphasis service prepares us for the oncoming weekend. A taste of the Conference comes in the form of the theme song, On Track, the words and music of which were composed by Craig Ben- nett and Keith Wong. The line of eight vocalists were backed by the percussion and brass sections. Pretty professional, huh? did you know Alex is doing King Tut ? Yeah? Hos told me that the lust-a-Little-While Quartet will be doing their thing at the Saturday morning concert .. . What are you going to be doing Tuck? . . . Me and Iohn are going to be your basic bell hops over at Bethany ... really! Do you need help? . . . No sweat. Me and Tuck can handle it Hey, Shermie, did you know that Ronnie's sister is coming? . . . Uh huh . . . And so the weeks passed until finally we were there-a time when days of hard work and preparation were to come into fruition. There were days of practices, late nights, excused classes, overtime work in the cafeteria, clean-up drives, com- mittee meetings, prayer times and a host of other preparations. Friday afternoon came and the 126 'Terry lNhite lchairmanl presents his committee. Y.C. Everything went on with clock-like precision. The engineer, or rather the speaker, was Carl Nelson, graduate of Whea- ton and Fuller, present Regional Director in the Mid-South with Young Life and also the author of the book lust the Greatest. The C.C. music groups and the drama troupe were at their best. The music con- XX certs left everyone wishing for more. Especially moving was the Holy, Holy, Holy as sung by the men on campus under Russ's direction. Derailing at South Campus on Sat- urday afternoon was a chilly affair, but the guests and hosts braved the cold to get in a time of fun with games, races, acts, and other things. Sandy and her crew of the cafeteria served as best they could under pres- sure and came out on top. Locomotion our very own com- edy program was a riot.
