SSIO The primary purpose of the missionary program is to prepare students for Christian service in mission helds at home and abroad. The objectives in this program are: Qlj to aid the student in developing a Christian philosophy of missions based on New Tes- tament teachingg Q21 to acquaint him with the history and meth- ods of the expansion of Christianityg Q35 to provide an orienta- tion which will give him an understanding of and appreciation for non-Wlestern cultures as a basis for cross-Cultural communica- tiong QM to instill in him the realization of the necessity for in- digenous church principlesg and Q55 to help him develop certain essential skills in this field. Students are prepared for various fields of the world and may either start immediately on their work or go on to further their education in missionary work. Earth. The vocational purpose of the department is: to prepare Chris- tian education directors, childrenjs or youth workersg to contribute to the preparation of pastors and missionaries 5 to provide basic instruction for those who will be lay leaders in the church. Here are made available courses from all phases of the college Christian Ministries department. Professor Klopfen- stein teaches through correspondence those students who are not able to live on campus or who have conflicts with other classes. Any one student is able to take up to fourteen hours in correspondence work per semester for credit.
