Allen County Public Library Ft. Wayne, Indiana The runner pressed forward, Every muscle strained in action, With every motion striving onward, His eye fixed on the black cinder track That lay narrow and straight before him. As he ran, he remembered How he had first come upon the lonely track And had wondered where it led. He had even tried to trace the cinder trail To find its source, But because of the white sun's burning heat, He soon became wearied, and stumbling off the track, Slumped by the way to rest. Suddenly he heard a voice . . . and looking up, He saw a Stranger standing on the track, Who spoke his name and coming to his side, Began to tell him of the race for which the trail stood- What it was and where it led- And of His power to change into able runners Those who sought in vain to run the race. As he looked and listened, he believed . . . And suddenly his black cloak became a sprinter's suit And in his wearied body surged a second wind Of strength. in C' Uliam Z. Sham Professor Oliver Steiner lived a secret - the secret of a happy life. He was much loved as a man and highly respected as a musician, his sincere smile, understanding eyes, and skillful hands will be remembered by us all. Although Professor Steiner's death in the spring of 1955 was a great loss to the college, his example of a happy, Christ-centered life is ever before us. In memoriam, we dedicate this 1956 Light Tower to Professor Oliver Steiner.
