Q Emerson The only way to have a friend is to be one. au M ' Founders Memorial is a building full of sounds-sounds of all sizes, quali- ties, and pitches. Early in the morning one can hear the bustling of students as they go to breakfast in the dining hall where they wake up to a rattle of silverware, the clatter of dishes being washed, and the clanging of pots and pans in the kitchen. Throughout the rest of the day Founders hallways buzz with students going to classes, to chapel, to the practice rooms, and to the afternoon gym sessions. After dinner in the evening, music students take over. Fortunately, prac- tice rooms are sound-proofed but stray noise leaks into the hallways, pianos, organs, sopranos, flutes, trumpets, baritones, and record players all contribute to musical chaos. At nine o'clock students one by one begin leaving, until by twenty to ten only an occasional giggle echoes from the snack bar. Then silence -what a change! Art- Q 91. 44 g- 'FM :L 'qfua A . With the bell at the end of study hours comes a scuffle and rustle as books are put away and everyone relaxes - that is unless term papers or collateral work are due. Often it there are no deadlines the following day, little discussion groups meetp subiects include, of course, men.
