DCT Cl96l72g65 Name to CECF Diversified Coopera- tive Training students this year organized a chapter of Coopera- tive Educational Clubs of Florida, a statewide club which is affliated with DCT. Members were per- sons working at on- the-job training such as secretaries and dental or nursing as- sistants in order to prepare them for the vocational field they planned to enter. At the district con- vention held in Pen- sacola president, Cathy Manley, placed first in a test on den- tal medical termino- logy and advanced to the regional com- petition. Eight repre- sentatives attended the annual conven- tion, this year held in Miami CECF also participated in Homecoming activi- ties. The members were awarded an Honorable mention for their float, and did an impressive job in the door decora- tion contest to place first in the school. 33 FBLA Slmw Comme Twice monthly meet- ings provided a start- ing point for the many projects under- taken by the Future Business Leaders of America. Typing, re- producing and mail- ing monthly news- letters for the AAUW and typing Bruner Ir. High newspaper were two business-related activities. The mem- bers also wrote Thanksgiving greet- ings to patients in the Culf Convalescent Home, gave a Christ- mas party for chil- dren attending the Fort Walton Beach Day Care Center and sold stationery. Cuest speakers were spon- sored at one meeting each month. Members also at- tended District I ral- lies and conventions, and were able to compete on local, state and national levels with other students. Ms. Bowers, FBLA sponsor, takes time from her busy sched- ule to smile at the birdie. Io Anne Adair. Rhonda Barron, and Elaine Clanton devote time to type up the Bruner Ir. DECA Hom As hosts of the Dis- trict Contest, the school's chapter of Distributive Educa- tion Clubs of Amer- ica was kept busy making arrangements for the Ianuary com- petition as well as keeping up its many activities. Intended to bring together stu- dents involved in marketing products or in public services, DECA was involved in a wide variety of activities, ranging Dimfic Coney! from banquets to house painting. House painting projects took place in October, followed by the preparation of baskets of food given at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Members participated in the State Leadership Conference as well as the district contest, and topped their pro- ductive year in May with an Employer- Employee Banquet.
