05613 Boboy and Babay The 1973 Honor Club of the Year, Spanish Honor Society, was again among the best in the school in 1974. Involved in all phases of student life, the Society selected the most spirited class, made basketball pro- grams and awarded a scholarship at the year's end. Hours of work by members with paints and paper produced a homecoming float which shared first prize honors for clubs in the parade. Coop- erative efforts were also a part of the fund-raising projects of the only club with a bear for a sponsor, Mrs. Mary Iones. Gummi Bears, a German Candy, are sold daily after school to raise money. Car washes, bake sales, and doughnut sales are also utilized to earn funds to buy pins, se- nior chords, and for other club projects. The club plans to at- tend the state con- vention held in Gainesville. The Society has raised funds for the green- house for several years, as well as for additional equipment needed by the Science department. Ms. IoAnn Balkom was sponsor of the club. She advised the members as they sought to promote in- terest and enthusiasm in the many branches of Science. Teresa Haas discusses the condi- tion of a plant with Rick Hord. A prize-winner, Science Honor's float of Viking Valhalla tied for first place in the club's division. Rocky the Boa explains a few facts of Serpentology to Bud Valade. Science Honor Society!83
