M azjoreflef Play With Fire Twirling flaming ba- tons and flashing swords were two of a great variety of rou- tines that the Viking majorettes sparkled half-time shows with in 1973. Captained by the Miss Florida All- Star for 1973, Kathy Levitt, the squad con- sisted of another All- Star Band member, Melissa Scroggins, as well as Cheryl Smith, Lisa McLendon and Kim Brackin. The four juniors and one sophomore continued the winning tradition of the corps, begin- ning with two first place trophies won in Tuscaloosa. Trophies for superior perfor- mances at the Miracle Strip and the Culf Coast Marching con- tests were added dur- ing the school year. 68!Majorettes Radiant Kathy Levitt reflects a beautiful performance in her face. Quiet is observed by Cheryl Smith during the National Anthem. Qt All American Dolly Sfmt to Up-Tzghf In their second year of existence, North- west Florida's only dance drill team added all new rou- tines to halftime pag- eantry in 1973. Strutt- ing on field to the familiar tune of Up- Tight , All American Dolls followed cap- tains Denise Lezu and Pippa Corley into whirling, graceful maneuvers. The members of the Dolls devoted many, many hours to prac- tice as a group weekly, as well as the time each girl spent in personal prepara- tion. Their efforts, and the guidance of directors Ellen Dod- son and Ianie Varner, earned superior rat- ings in marching con- tests, and brightened up football and bas- ketball intermissions. The Dolls show off their high kick. Concentration and a dry field help. Yellow banjos add a Dixieland touch. Iulie Beaty observes action tak- ing place off of the field. All American Dolls!69
