To many students difficult deci- sions concerning vocation preparation, courses, optional tests, college choice, and financial aid for future education, presented anxieties for which the staff was able to offer advice and assistance. Amid the pleasant atmosphere of an expanded library furnished with more research and read- ing material than ever, Vikings were able to continue in their acquisition of knowledge. True Dedication Assistant Principals Mr. May and Mr. Prine, along with Ms. Merchant, Dean of Women, once again attended to the problems and needs of the students of Fort Walton Beach High. The time consuming jobs such as handling lock- ers, books, absentees, Withdrawals, recruiting teachers to sell and collect tickets at football and basketball games, and striving to maintain a sensible means of dress and behavior within the student body, often go unrecognized, but are nonetheless an essential part of the adminstra- tor's busy schedule. As Dean of Women, Ms. Merchant has an important role in handling student affairs. Mr. May seems to maintain a cheerful smile, no matter how busy the day is. Mr. Prine stands tall, ready to face any problem which may arise. Administrators!37

With the much appreciated hard work of the secretaries, absentee reports, monies, telephone and written communications, disciplinary actions and even personal in- volvement constituted each day of diligent service. Minor and major injuries were attended to this year by one of Fort Walton's most experienced and dedicated nurses. Whether a headache, stomachache, or more serious ailment or injury, Ms. Hall was always well prepared. Not only a nurse, but someone to confide in, Ms. Hall has well earned the love and respect of faculty and students alike.
