The Fort Walton Beach 1973- 74 Varsity Cheerleading Squad started this year by winning the Grand Champion Award at the Dynamic Cheer- leading Association cheer- leading clinic held at Stetson University during the summer. But that was just a start. Dur- ing the football season they sold spirit tags, suckers, and tee-shirts and had carwashes also during the year. The squad has been full of spirit throughout the year and has proved it through their backing of both the football and basketball teams. They have added a great deal to the school yearls spirit. Their gen- tlemen for this year is Mike Hromadka. Their sponsor, Mrs. Mary Iones provided great help and guidance for the squad through the school year. 140!Varsity Cheerleaders

f V. Cheerleaders Sei Godly In May of 1973, the six newly- elected junior varsity cheer- leaders set two main goals. The most important goal was to support the fantastic Viking I. V. football and basketball teams. They have worked very hard toward this goal, putting a lot of time and extra money into parties and refreshments for the players as well as showing their spirit at the games. The second goal was to train the girls to work together and give them the poise and expe- rience to do their job well. They were awarded at a one day clinic in Mobile, Alabama. At the clinic the cheerleaders were rated second against nu- merous other junior varsity and varsity squads for their cheerleading ability and form. They also won a third place trophy for their show of spirit. To raise money for supplies and uniforms, the girls had a car wash during the summer and sold buttons during school. Mrs. McEachern, the sponsor for the I. V. cheerleaders, has helped them learn the respon- sibility of working and getting along with people. In the next two years, hopefully the var- sity squad can grow and be- come the best. One of many cheering formations but, a little to the left side. The I.V. cheerleaders for '73-'74 are: Kelly Cline, LeAnne Simpson, Kathy Stuart, Diana Long, Pattee Gibson, Sharon Lefebvre. A little on the right and little on the left. . .
