Teaching a student to develop an understanding of the English language to study different types of writing and to encourage those interested in drama is the purpose of the English department A student studies the different parts of speech learns to apply them and also gets some practical experience in writing Students taking the one semester course of Driver Training learn the essential parts of the car handle a car andthe various rules of driving They receive their training in a car loaned to the school for this purpose In the social studies classes one may not only choose those which pertain to World and United States History but Contemporary World Problems Psychology and Social Studies Contemporary World Problems deals with events of malor impor tance in our modern world whereas in Psychology the students study the behavior of individuals Offered In the art department of our school are varied courses rangmg from ceramics to com mercial art These give students the chance to express their feelings to carry out original ideas to make useful oblects and to help the school by working on murals decorating for dances and painting posters In the printing classes of graphic arts and ad- vanced printing the students not only learn these skills but aid their school by making programs, printing the school paper and other useful items. These classes are valuable to the school curriculum for they help the students interested in this field as a career. NUMEROUS DEPARTMENTS ASSIST STUDENTS
