Blessed with power and a deep desire to win. the FVHS “11” astounded everyone by totaling up 287 points while allowing their opponents only 34 points. This desire to win, combined with good coaching as well as above average team spirit made possible such a rewarding year. The crowning achievement of this year’s team was obtaining the title of ’‘State Champs, due to the outstand- ing work of all the boys. We feel sure that this honor has never before fallen to a more worthy group of young men. 23 I eurson racks up 6 points against Crisp Co. vii lam . ed LbOL t‘r hoi Vfte M per. pi ced -fic to le it seven ea they tiuu scei urn u. ijemitii i iuiii indiumt'sim 26-0; Play Hawkinsyiile Friday Nigh for the arrelson, injured irdeman 153 and rds each d junior Bobcat attacks, ling and 18 more lite, the lal count 15 yards n three standing ay night Tharpe. end-line- y on of- hind-the- perfec befot . w ' , spotlighting Tomlinson, end Mim gain. Annual Staff We of the 1962 Vallihi Annual Staff wish to express our sincere pride in having played a small part of such an exciting and rewarding school year. We feel that the value of this year’s annual is directly proportional to the amount of excellent material with which we have had to work. Although the tempo of studying in- creased, we of FVHS have had many broadening experiences to prepare us for maturity. The Annual Staff has attempted to preserve these experiences on the pages of this yearbook. By doing so, we hope to provide material for later reflec- tions as well as creating an interesting and well-rounded chronicle of our Senior’s last year at FVHS. We sincerely hope that at least a small part of our pride for our school and for our friends is woven into the pages of this. The 1962 Vallihi! The monthly publication of the school paper is a service project of the Beta Club. Its purpose is to provide students with news of their own making and with articles of special interest. Les Menwires 62 The world at FVHS always hums with activity. The murmur of busy classes, the hustle of crowded halls, the quietness of the library, and the yells of the physical education classes all blend to give the school a sound of activity and purposeful endeavor. But soon the day ends, and the only sounds are those of a teacher working late and of the custodians pre- paring for a new day. The school is at rest. It may rest, but it never sleeps. The Cheerleaders perform a yell as the audience relaxed during the basketball game half-time. 50 Ml Clenndolyn does a complicated baton routine as the rest of the majorettes keep step. A view of the boys’ campus Students take advantage of their only free time during the day to eat, talk, and relax with their friends in the school lunch- room. The library is usually busy with students doing research work, homework, or casual reading. kU kU U1-.1L1 PEACH COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION. SEATED, Left to right: W. H. Davidson, H. J. Administration Mi s Thelma Wilson—Guidance Counselor Guidance I V US has a part-time counselor, whose services include personal and group conferences w ith students desiring educational and or vocational information. Any student in high school, any teach- er, or any parent may use any service or materials available in the counseling office—from cur- rent college catalogs to special-interest and intellectual tests. The counselor provides time to give any student an interpretation of his scores on standard tests and will assist him in choosing a college and in making applications concerning continued study or employment. A follow-up program is being planned, through which former graduates and one-time students of the school will be contacted with a view' to providing more efficient guidance services.
