Student Body Fort Stockton High School Fort Stockton, Texas Dear Students I was glad to enter your high school this year as a freshman and my freshman year has been a pleasant one. Maybe by the time I graduate I will know something about how this year's Seniors feel. I was certainly glad to find a good high school when I started here in September, and it has been a pleasure for me to work with you in trying to make it a better one. High schools are built for students, and the faculty and administration intend for you to have a say in how it is run. We want you to make it the school you would like to have. You are the one who can build school spirit and good traditions. We want it to be a school where you receive knowledge on a thousand different subjects, and at the same time have as much fun as possible. We want you to be able to say that your years spent in Fort Stockton High School are the most pleasant in your life. If you have been taught nothing else, we hope you have gained a knowledge of the American Way of Life. I would like to compliment the Annual Staff and their Sponsor for this great yearbook they have produced. I am sure that it is one that all of you will be glad to show your grandchildren in the years to come. To you Seniors—I wish you all the luck in the world, and we hope that you will come back to see us quite often. E. W. Smith Supt. Schools

TO THE STUDENTS OF FORT STOCKTON HIGH SCHOOL During each school year I become better acquainted with each of you and become more interested in the personal welfare and happiness of each individual. To you I may be your teacher and principal, but I want to be your friend most of all. I had much rather help you with your personal problems than with your algebra problems. The greatest pleasure I get out of teaching school is helping some bqy or girl, who may be having dificulties, get straightened out. However, I do not want you to wait until you are in trouble to come by to see me because I enjoy talking and visiting with you at any time. May we not only become friends but remain friends throughout life. I congratulate the annual staff on the splendid work they have done on The Panther of 194-8. I also want to express my appreciation to the student body and faculty for making this one of my most pleasant years. J. G. Huckaby Principal
