C 1, Gladys K Yloion, ' THE SERVANT IN THE House U November 27 and 28 are days deeply impressed on the memories of the Fort Sc-oil D1-EY gO1ng people. You ask the occasion? It was then that Fort Scott learned that there was much dramatic ability in the Junior College. The means of this discoverv was The Servant in the House by Charles Rann Kennedy. T ' i As the velvet curtains slowly part, the scene is a room in the vicarage in England which speaks of comfort and refinement. Now, for the story. It deals with the livcs of three orphan brothers. The youngest, William Smythe, who was the most apt at leuru- ing, received an education at the expense of the two older brothers. He became a vicar in a fashionable church, and the husband of a very aristocratic wife. Joshua, the oldest, by his own efforts also enters the ministry in India and is quite 1 successful. V Robert, however, becomes a victim of circumstance, and by the death of his wife, V' low wages and drink becomes so indifferent that he allows his baby girl. Mary, to hc L th taken by the vicar and his wife, and to be reared as their own child. If f FIFTEEN YEARS ELAPSE. The play opens at this point. A miracle has been wrought in the repulsive drunk- ',,r ard. He earns a decent wage tending drains, and he determines to win his'child back r, against the wishes of the vicar and his wife. Upon his arrival at the vicarage, he s finds the household upset and expecting the Saintly Bishop of Benares and the Worldll' r Bishop of Lancanshire who are coming to aid the vicar in restoring lns church. The story has a satisfactory ending with the vicar determined to join his once despised brother in fixing the drains which are the cause of his people not attending ' church. Also the father and the daughter have a happy reunion but even Slfaiel 15 , ' the rejoicing with the discovery that the servant. in the house who has brought them ab all together by his great love and christian spirit is no other than then biothei Jos iua. JOE L- HERMANSON During the past three years, at the time of the election of the officers for the Jun- ior College two other people are elected: one, the Editor, the other the Business Man- fager of the Maroon for the following year. Immediately these two people with the :aid of a faculty advisor choose other members to work on the staff with them. During the past two years the Junior College has edited a book separate from the High School book, and so far this venture has been very successful. There is an abundance of work connected with the editing of such a bookg however, the staff this year feels it has accomplished this in a successful manner.
