At the beginning of the year, school personnel were trying to find an answer to this question. Finally the perfect solution came up. The senior high had decided not to have their annual magazine sales. Mr. Kuhlman quickly asked for permission for the junior high to do it instead. Permission was granted and junior high magazine sales began. Teachers and students helped make the sales a 55700.00 profit. Some of the money has already purchased computer software. For top sales some students won stuffed animals, cassette players, or an adding machine. The top salesperson, Stephanie Syler, was awarded a television set. Everyone did their pad to make the sales a big success. Mr. David Kuhlman was very pleased since this was the first year of doing the sales. The basketball games are just one ofthe many events that the cheerleaders appear in. Besides the basketball games, the cheerleaders also cheer at the football games and volleyball games. The rest of the student body that doesn't see them at the games, has a chance at the pep assemblies. Among the eight cheerleaders, are the four from the eighth gradeg Michele Curtis, Angie Dasbach, Audra Lovelace, and Angie Snead, and the four from the ninth grade are: Carol Cook, Carrie Curtis, Janeen Medellin and Kathy Thatcher. They should, because these were just a few of the many activities the Los lndios Spanish Club were involved in this year. In the fall, Los Indios had a candy sale and raised over S1500.00. With this money they purchased a tape recorder and a new filing cabinet for Mrs. Alice Lenning, plus new window blinds for Mrs. Linda Drown. They were the club's sponsors. This winter, the club joined French Club and had its annual outing to Crown Center, where the students shopped, ate, and ice skated. This year the foreign exchange student, Ruben Casamayor, had to return to Mexico due to unfortunate circumstances. Before he left he was given a shirt by Los Indios. The club also provides a scholarship to helpunderprivileged students in Mexico to attend rural schools. Over the past years, over one thousand dollars has been contributed. This spring, the club went to Annie's Santa Fe, a Mexican restaurant in the Kansas City area. Los Indios will also be contributing more money to the Robert Keeton memorial fund. By Joy Salmon ' The girl's basketball tryouts began in the later part of October and lasted for two weeks. During this time, the girls were judged on their quickness, agility, ball control, and shooting skills, One cut was made and then the final team was picked by the coaches. The next four weeks were the most difficult times for the basketball team. The girls went through both physical and mental conditioning. When November 27 arrived, the Indians were ready to take on the Liberty Blue Jays and they did just that, with their tirst two-fold victory. The 1984-85 girls' basketball team ended with a mixed season. The record for the A team was three wins and six losses and the B team had tive wins and two losses.
