Behind us lies the course, its hard- dill' HE ships overcome: before us rises the goal, bright with reward. It has been 7 Q a noble race, with much jolly companionship brightening the toil. 1 It's strange what a good time we had. We thought it was all hard 'jp X lb work then, but now it's all rainbow-colored. On looking backward, we 5 'Q' catch glimpses of things we shall never forget-our Sophomore diet of ,T angle salads and bits of a certain pi, which was so generously portioned A W among us, the famous Bridge of Caesar over which we must pass without iq fail, As Juniors, how we gathered and boarded our funds to give the M S A traditional banquet to the Seniors! And how blissfully we struggled with ax W the tough birds from Long Island! i A So at last we are Seniors! The goal is just ahead, and when we feel 3 D N we shall never again travel along together or lean on the splendid help of W R our sponsor, Miss Long, it is with regret that we pass toward the goal. ? qi We've put on sales and rushed a booth at the fair. Our plays have gone aw L M over with huge success, We hardly realized how dramatic we were. Many members of our class take active part in Athletics, and because of our attendance at games and Willingness to back up the team We are called the one hundred per cent class. We feel proud of the fact that both editors of the Senior High Life were chosen from the Junior Class. In January We gave a Salmagundi party at the municipal au- ditorium, and have since increased our class funds through many other schemes. Our first party, which was given in honor of the football boys, was at the home of Don Bolick. We have not had many socials this year because We needed all the money we could rake and scrape together to give the Junior- Senior banquet, but now we feel that our sacrifice of pleasure was Well repaid by the success of this affair. lg i fb lb H '2sa2a2a'i5-'H' gag sssrsv X :eva Wav 2 sf ... g l'- V a e 1 i' pl W Q 'fl I ni- ie Q llllf A s Y P g Th 'rty-eight L Yoplzomorw XV! X the Fort Myers Senior High School. This caused a great deal of excitement 5 ii? y among the upper classmen, as our class had already established a good reputa- A I tion at Junior High. Miss Moore in recognition of our good merit gave us ag. Ig, Y, ly front seats in study hall. This is the largest class in the history of the school. I i F F Early in October the class was organized. Oflicers were elected for the Q X -rl year, and Miss Vaden was chosen for sponsor. A X It lil The Sophomores have had an active part in all school activities and have EEN fl carried off a good share of honors. ', . Over half the Alpha Society is from this class. Among whom are two Q-A 1 N.. X . fi nf- . oliicers, Brevard Nisbet and Kathleen Watson. The Sophomores have gained fame in athletics as Well as in scholarship. The majority of the football squad came from our ranks and we are Well rep- resented also in the baseball nine of this season. In basket-ball we have our full share of representatives, both the girls' and boys' teams winning honors. This class has shown its ability in salesmanship, selling one hundred thirty- five magazine subscriptions. This swelled the treasury quite a bit as a commis- sion was given for the sale of each one. Social activities enjoyed this year were: the Christmas party and the Sopho- more-Senior picnic. It is with joyful anticipation that we look forward to the time when we will take our places as Juniors in High School. K. W. All W W W M N if H Q M M N I W . 5 fa M M ' 4 A U. The article says the Rev. W. C. Dennington performed the ceremony. On the last page, mention is made of Martin Peers, eminent scientist, who has just discovered that a fly has nine hundred-ninety-nine hairs on each foot instead of one thousand. Also, I read of Gilmer Heitman, inventor of a cheaper car than Henry's. Sailing away again, I find myself in a great movie studio where Lois Greene, Broadway vamp, is co-starring with Edwin Campbell, screen idol, in his latest picture, She's Still My Baby. Beth Cutter, author of the scenario is directing the production. Nearby stood a group of the star's friends: Enness Parish, tight-rope walker: Sue Rosser,, owner of a banana plantation in Brazil: Agnes Williams, Home Economics teacher, Minnie Weeks, palm reader: Ermil Croco, inventor of the latest marceling device: Paul Stout, admiral of merchant marine: Wilma Allison, founder of a dressmaking establishment in the Sandwich Islands: Elizabeth Kelley, screen star, and William Chandler, who made his first million by selling face coloring in bottles, for twenty-five cents a bottle. And now on my carpet, through the air I fly to a far country and on the streetslof Peking, China, I see a great mob gathering around the corner where Paola Copeland is lecturing on women's rights. She is guarded by Albert Hill, civil engineer, and Clyde Montgomery, chief of the Peking fire department. Alice Leitner and Catherine Loker are ready for any emergency, while Violet Bigelow, missionary to the heathen, is endeavoring to quiet the mob. But now up comes Lieutenant Ruth Johns Rosser, first woman to fly to China, and with her Bertha Mae Stulpner, world's champion stenographer. These two great celebrities so excite the mob that they begin to throw things at the Ameri- cans. With a great noise as of thunder I am whisked away once more and feel myself dropping through space. Then I find that I have fallen out of my chair by the fire, and see half dead embers winking elfishly at me. -H. L.-D. E.
