LOG BOOK OF THE PIRATE SHIP '51 We launched our pirate ship on a beautiful day of September, 1945, in a harbor called FMHS. We were an eager crew and were anxious to meet our mates and acquaint our- selves with our new duties. We had smooth sailing through the seventh parallel and didn't raise the skull and crossbones once. The ship sailed on through the eighth parallel where we were threatened with the loss of some of our crew. We kept the vessel steady, however, and we began to prepare in earnest for the battles that would surely follow in the four years to come. At the ninth parallel we elected first mate Betty Cutler and second mate Bob Solt to pilot us through a difficult passage. When we had safely reached the tenth parallel in '49, we knew that we were a full fledged pirate crew working together. Long john Bill Reed, our captain for a year, set the course our ship would take and the crew was more than willing to follow and keep our craft afloat. We attacked a ship named Twirp Season and carried off our first big prize. Our captain said that he intended to save the loot and use it for a prom the next year, and being a happy lot, we agreed. A play called Happy journey seemed to symbolize what our six year cruise would always mean to the members of the crew. At parallel eleven was our next conflict. The deck hands all worked hard to clean the ship up in waiting for the prom. Our new captain, Alan Osborne, didn't have any trouble controlling his crew and no sign of mutiny was shown. We stopped a ship that had been ahead of us for five years and invited them into our Fairyland banquet to have a wonderful evening on board our sea-worthy craft. Members of the crew intro- duced us to a family called The Fighting Littles. Even more treasure was captured as a result of the production given to the guests on board the ship. At the end of that year Admiral Delmus Robinson and Vice Admiral Don Ostwald were chosen to steer the fleet safely home. We finally have reached the twelfth parallel. Our cruise has been a happy one with untold rewards. Our shipmates have made such wonderful friends that we hate to end the voyage. The admiral is successfully bringing the ship back into the harbor we have all loved so well. Years from now, when the crew is separated, the sailors on this pirate cruise will never forget the six years they spent on a journey through high school. We have captured the greatest prize of all. We have learned how to steer our ship alone and to work together in harmony.
