Mrs. Nellis May White teaches Algebra I and II and Math 8. She is sponsor of the Future Teachers of America and the Sophomore class. She has a B.S. in Education from Florida State University. Her favorite pastime is being with her grandchildren, Mel and Joey Parker. Mrs. Harriett F. Willett, girl's Physical Education teacher, coaches the seventh and eighth grade extra-mural volleyball and basketball teams. She has a B.S. in Physical Education from Battle Geek College, Battle Geek, Michi- gan, Mrs. Willett enjoys reading, sewing, and swimming in the summer. Mrs. Lorraine Young teaches English to the ninth and tenth grade and is the sponsor of the National Honor Society A few of her favorite pastimes are working with flowers and reading. Mrs. Young graduated from Florida State College with a B.S. Mrs. Barbara Watts, who teaches English III and IV, is cheerleader sponsor, sophomore class sponsor, and teaches at night school three nights a week. She has an A.B. from Lander College in Greenwood, South Carolina. A few of Mrs. Watts favorite pastimes are knitting, painting, reading, and sewing. 27

Mrs. Carol Snyder is our foreign language teacher. In ad- dition to teaching Spanish I and II, she teaches English III and Business English. She is a sponsor of the Black and Gold and a Spanish Club sponsor. She enjoys arranging flowers and being with her family. Mrs. Sthreshley, with a B.S. from Maryville College and an M.A. from Presbyterian School of Christian Education, is teaching science. She is a senior sponsor and enjoys playing bridge and cooking. Mr. Jerry Strickland is our boys' Physical Education teach- er. He received a B.S. from the University of Tampa. He is assistant football coach and head track coach. His hobby is playing golf. Gib- son, Jr Mrs. Kitty Bell, whose favorite pastime is horticulture, has been a secretary for eighteen years. When asked about her work she replied, I have been a secretary for as long as I can remember. Mrs. Bell learned her skills at Tampa Business College. Area Office Mr. Joe Clanton was transferred to the Fort Meade Area Office from the County School Board. He attended Arkansas State College where he received his Bachelor Degree, then went on to the University of Mississippi where he received his Masters Degree, and for additional graduate work he at- tended the University of Florida. His reasons for choosing this profession were livelihood and ambitions to be a teacher. Mr. Clanton’s favorite pastimes are hunting and fishing. 28
