Only trouble is, Nancy looks a little confused her- self. Bottom left. Editor Sharon Weeks and Advisor Mrs. Dotson try to figure out a pretty style lettering to use for the annual. Bot- tom right, there isn't too much we can say for this gang. They SEEM to look busy, but don't let them fool you. Really, we do think we have turned out a nice annual and we hope you enjoy it. 'DecUcatio ' We, the seniors of 1959, would like to show our appreciation in some small way to one, who through the years, has been ever ready and willing to help usin our voyage through highschool. His understand- ing, sympathy and advice has kept us off the rocks many times. And so in appreciation for the many lessons not found in the books, but so necessary for our continued voyage through life we dedicate this, THE FOMEHISO, Volume XV, to our beloved teacher and friend, MR. DAVID M. BLACK. DEDICATION ADMINISTRATION FACULTY SENIORS FAVORITES JUNIORS SOPHOMORES JUNIOR HIGH ORGANIZATIONS ACTIVITIES ATHLETICS________________ We, the Seniors of 1959 have steered successfully through our high school cruise. At times the sailing was smooth; at times we heard the fearful breakers roar. With a steady eye on our goal and sails unfurled, we have chartered and kept our course. As we embark now on the greater voyage through life, we present our log with the reminder that It is the set of the sails and not the gales that determine the way we go. And so, Bon Voyage! The measure of a life is not in its duration, but in its donation. Memories of Patsy Ann Mettauer will linger long in the minds of students in future yean. Pat, a sophomore at Fort Meade last year, died of leukemia August 31, 1958. In her year and half of high school Pat served faithfully and capably. In 1957, she was sopho- more class secretary and Fire Queen. Queen Pat reigned with a grace and dignity never to be for- gotten. In the field of music, Pat excelled greatly. She played flute and was a high-stepping major- ette for the band. Because of her unselfish devotion to church, school, and community, Pat will always remain an inspiration to students of Fort Mead High School. The purpose of the Club is to give material aid to the Fort Meade High School Band in every way possible. The Club has sponsored various money making projects this year. They bought several much needed drums. They also bought our director a uniform. They boosted our morale by giving us a banquet and dance in May. OUR THANKS TO THE BAND BOOSTERS CLUB! p JPt S (tyoMA For the first time in a number of years Fort Meade High can boast that they have a High School Chorus. Under the supervision of Mr. Rupert Carlton students from grades 7-12 have participated in the chorus. Their first perfor- mance was at P.T.A. Since then they have participated in quite a number of affairs and each time have brought honors to our school.
