His understand- ing, sympathy and advice has kept us off the rocks many times. The measure of a life is not in its duration, but in its donation. Memories of Patsy Ann Mettauer will linger long in the minds of students in future yean. Pat, a sophomore at Fort Meade last year, died of leukemia August 31, 1958. In her year and half of high school Pat served faithfully and capably. In 1957, she was sopho- more class secretary and Fire Queen. Queen Pat reigned with a grace and dignity never to be for- gotten. In the field of music, Pat excelled greatly. She played flute and was a high-stepping major- ette for the band. Because of her unselfish devotion to church, school, and community, Pat will always remain an inspiration to students of Fort Mead High School.
