HISTORY OF THE CLASS OF 48 In 1944 the greenest Freshmen ever to enter Fort Meade High School stumbled down the halls. We managed somehow to struggle through and get accustomed to being in the real high school. That year we chose Joe Warren Joiner as our class president. Miss Mil- dred Ford and Mrs. Lawrence Mayo were our class sponsors. We enjoyed several picnics at our favorite spot, Kissengen Springs. We began our Sophomore year with a bang by sponsoring Stunt Night”. It was this event that started our bank account. Our sponsors for the year were Miss Grace Godley and Miss Mildred Ford. George Atwell served as class president. Now we are in the all important Junior year! Our president is Roderick Streetman. Miss Godley and Mrs. F. N. McCullars are our sponsors. We are endeavoring to raise money for the Junior-Senior Banquet. We have had a successful class play entitled Aaron Slick from Pur.kin Crick” and we arc now trying to sell magazine subscriptions. The most thrilling event of the year was the ordering of our class rings. However, we are now looking forward with keenest anticipation to the time when we shall be Dignified Seniors . We expect to enjoy privileges, especially the front seats in Chapel.
