Gladys Spencer Sponsor 220 Anchor Club, youngest of the girls’ service clubs at Fort Lauderdale High School, has made great strides of progress in the past years. In 1956, this club took state and national honors by winning Anchor Club of the state and second in the nation. Kay Warren was elected state president. Some of the projects of Anchor this year were the spaghetti dinner, a fashion show, co- sponsors of Melody Circus and Job Poppa Day, aiding the blind, and working in the Guidance Center and the TB Center. Anchor will continue to carry out her motto of Forward ever, backward never” to aid both the community and school.
