REVIEW CORAL GABLES January 8 The Flying L's took the season's opening game by edging Coral Gables 59-55. The scoring was slow in the first quarter as our new L's appeared tense, but they settled down and scored 21 points in the second quarter. Tom Munson led the scorers with 18 points. SOUTH BROWARD January 12 The Caldwellmen received their first defeat on the South Broward floor. The Bulldogs were on top 38- 36 as the buzzer ended one of the top thrillers' of the season. Munson led the scoring with 12 points. ORLANDO EDGEWATER January 15 The L's received their second setback at the hands of Orlando Edgewater by the score of 61-51. Al- though scoring 22 points in the last quarter, the L's could not nullify the Eagle's huge lead. Cas- teel, our lanky center, scored 17 points and Longo scored 9. ST. PETERSBURG January 16 The Flying L's, flashing defensive and offensive coordination, trounced the St. Petersburg Green Devils by a 65-45 score. Casteel bagged 21 points as Munson scored 17. WEST PALM BEACH January 19 The Wildcats led the L's by 9 points at halftime, but the Blue and White broke loose for 40 points in the second half to defeat West Palm Beach 65-59. In one of the best played games of the season, Etts and Munson scored 16 and 15 points respective- ly- Casteel slips one ini Munson scores on a layup. MIAMI EDISON January 22 The Flying L's had a bad night on the home boards as the Miami Edison Red Raiders out-rebounded, out-scrapped, and out-scored us 53-38. Munson and Casteel led the team with 14 and 12 points re- spectively. SOUTH BROWARD January 23 The L's proved that all Bulldogs don't bite twice when they avenged an earlier defeat by the count of 55-48. Dick Longo provided the thrill of the game with a running one-hand shot from mid- court which scored as the third quarter ended. The leading scorers were Bob Casteel, 20; Steve Etts, 16; and Tom Munson, 13. MIAMI JACKSON January 26 The Flying L's shaded a scrappy Miami Jackson five in our gym by the score of 55-53. Munson sparked the L's with 15 points while Casteel garnered 14. ST. PETERSBURG January 29 The score board showed 43-41 in favor of the L's after a 3-minute overtime period with the St. Peters- burg Green Devils. Guard Pinkerman scored the lone two points in the overtime as Etts and Casteel tied for high point honors with 11 each.

 A shuffle for the rebound. MIAMI HIGH January 30 Miami Stingarees went on a scoring spree in the second quarter to defeat the L's 72-55. Although the L's held Miami even for three quarters, they could not overcome the second period deficit. MIAMI BEACH February 2 The Caldwellmen took the Miami Beach Typhoons by a 57-45 count. Tom Munson hit a season high as he scored 27 points. ORLANDO EDGEWATER February 5 Dead-eye shooting by a host of Eagles gave Or- lando Edgewater a 39-17 halftime lead. The second half found a scrappy L team striving to close the gap, but failing as Orlando won 73-56. Bob Casteel scored 13 points as Al West and Tom Munson tied with 10 points each. MIAMI JACKSON February 6 The Generals took the L's for a 52-44 win on the Jackson floor. The L's, missing several crib and set shots, let the Generals take a good lead in the second half. Steve Etts was high point man with 11 and Dick Longo was second with 9. MIAMI EDISON February 9 The Flying L's took Miami Edison by a score of 64-46. flaying good all around basketball, the L's beat the high seeded team with little trouble. Steve Etts was high point man with 15 and Tom Munson was second with 14. WEST PALM BEACH February 12 Good marksmanship during the first half enabled the Flying L's to build up a lead that the Wildcats could not overcome. Etts with 13 points and Casteel with 12 points led the L's to a 52-47 win on the home boards. CORAL GABLES February 16 The L's, in losing to Coral Gables 54-41, lost the ball 23 times by erratic passes, walking, and palm- ing the ball. Etts took scoring honors with 14 points followed by West with 7. MIAMI BEACH February 19 The L's opened up during the last quarter to defeat Miami Beach 65-51. This victory assured the L's of being the third-seeded team in the group IV Tournament. Munson scored 27 points while Casteel scored 10. MIAMI HIGH February 20 Miami High defeated the Flying L's by a 69-44 count for the second time this season. The Stingarees had little difficulty with the Caldwellmen, outplay- ing them on both offense and defense. Munson and Etts scored 12 and 9 points respectively to lead the L cagers. A hard won victory.
