Is there life after high school? Even as early as rhe eighrh grade, srudenrs are preparing for life afrer high school. Some people go on ro higher educarion and arrend college, and orhers srarr rheir careers righr away. The choice is made early by rhe selection of classes for high school. College bound srudenrs usually chose a more aca¬ demically challenging schedule, whereas srudenrs seeking a vocarional career would choose a schedule rhar would acrually help rhem ar a particular job. Some examples of vocarional skills which a srudenr may arrain while arrending Forr Hunr are in rhe areas of masonry, plumb¬ ing, electronics, mechanics, architectural drawing, and com¬ mercial arr. Some college courses and preparatory courses are also offered ar Forr Hunr. Calculus and A P Physics are exam¬ ples of rhis. High school is supposed ro be a preparation for life. One can find many opporruniries around rhe school ro plan for rhe furute. M JKKQCNQ CQO jhe 1979 - 80 school year was a year of adjusrmenr for Forr Hunr High School Alrhough rhe school was ready for use by Sepr 5, portions of rhe building were nor ready for occuparion. The home econom¬ ics deparrmenr, rhe auditorium, rhe cafeteria kitch¬ ens, and rhe administrative offices had nor been completed Students were forced to make rhe best of what they had, something Forr Hunr has gotten used to doing since December 1978 Nor only students had to pur up with rhe situation, bur also rhe faculty was hindered by rhe situation Box - loads of books were left at Mr Vernon when they should have been at Ft Hunr, and rhe administration had to pur up with rhe library as a temporary office for three long months. We can all remember rhe hunger pangs experienced as rhe home ec classes barbecued chicken in rhe courtyard and then going to rhe cafeteria to face those delicious (?) sack lunchesl Bur through all rhe inconveniences and make shifts, we pulled together as one unit - namely Forr Hunr High School Gourmer foods srudenrs, Jim Dowmon and Gina Barisano, demon srrore rhe copobiliry of rheir beloved microwave oven Drama class members, lacking a srage ro pracrice on, srudy rheir lines in rhe classroom I 24
