One Enchanfed Evening While finishing dinner ar a fancy resrauranr, excire menr about rhe Fifteenth Annual Homecoming Donee mounted All anyone knew abour rhe dance was lirrle birs of informarion rhar had leaked our — bur, basically, no one knew quire whar ro expecr because holding a dance in rhe gym was a new experience for everyone. As couples walked mro rhe gym, an air of magic ser in, rhe ceiling sparkled wirh srars, huge murals of wizards and such adorned rhe bleachers, and, of course rhe lights were dimmed Ir was indeed some enchanted evening. The band, The Wizard, played favorites like Lyn ard Skynard, Sryx, rhe Knock and Hearr. Weeks were spenr in preparation for Spirit Week 1979. The Student Government starr¬ ed early recruiting volunteers to help with such necessities as decorations for the donee and coordination of oil the events. The usual problems arose — too much to be done and nor enough rime in. which to do it. Various- clubs sponsored some rather inter¬ esting activities such os the Sexy Legs Con¬ test, won by Mr. Drion Tully and Steve Allen, Spirit Chain, and Dress - Up Day. The girls were actually expected to refrain from speaking to guys for Dig Mouth” Day! Fri¬ day was the culmination of oil the effort os 1600 spirited students crowded into the gym for on half - hour of screaming spirit.
