FHS Changes, Grows Changes — physical, environmental and academic — occurred on the Fort Hays State campus with vary- ing degrees of importance. The removal of the old power plant smokestack and the Mere! Train, and additions to Albertson Hall gave the campus a changing face. Alumni were asked to contribute money for a campanile. If a proposal before the Kansas legislature is passed, FHS may experience its fifth name change in 75 years. The administration, headed by new college president, Dr. Gerald Tomanek, feels this change will reflect the fact that the college has grown to univer- sity’ 1 status. Divisions within the college, previously designated as faculties, are now the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Education and the School of Nursing, Opening 9
