Distraught Freshmen Reinforce FHS Ranks Top: Mrs. Katherine Rogers discusses a schedule with advisee Rtck Bralnard. Middle: Susan Garden assists Janis Hawkins in buying books. Bottom: After all the traumatic experiences enrollment involves, classes begin and life becomes humdrum. Those hectic first days! Getting acquainted with room- mates and the campus, freshmen moved into their new homes. Immediately they found themselves caught up in the orientation program — joining organizations at the activities merry-go-round and meeting Dr. and Mrs. Cunningham at the president ' s reception. With freshmen still unsure of their surroundings, upperclassmen swept in. Enrollment confusion left everyone a little wiser, but thoroughly convinced some that they were hopelessly stupid and could never make it to the next enrolling ordeal. Most students did indeed learn how to sign names, addresses, class- ifications and majors and mastered the fine art of standing — patiently or perhaps not patiently — -in lines. After conferring with advisers, then invading bookstores, students diligently searched for classrooms. The everyday grind began. Is this basket weaving 205 V wonders Sue Garrett.

Campus Applies Ideas Discussed at Retreat For the first time at FHS, Greek men held pre-school rush. The week prior to orientation, rushees lived in dorms and attended parties — one at every house and a final one at the favored house of each. Then early each semester, fraternities entertained pros- pective members with smo kers. After summer rush, school opened, class rosters stabilized and students and faculty united to learn about each other. To increase understanding among faculty, students and administration, and to put some of the ideas discussed into practice during the year was the purpose of the third annual Student- Faculty Retreat. Campus leaders and interested faculty members participated in the parley which met at Camp Petusa near Lake Webster, September 19. Also to promote understanding — this time between stu- dents and parents, All-Student Council and Second Genera- tion Club sponsored Parents ' Day, September 26, Special events throughout the day and the Colorado Western football game gave families a view of FHS life. “And here ' s the dorm. a freshman shows her family. 1 Discussion continues while Provident Cunningham and retieacers snack. 19
