3 DEDICA TION The Senior Class along with the Editorial Staff is proud to present this edition of the SIREN to Mrs. O'Brien. At times, it is difficult to show one's appreciation for the many things that are performed unawaringly. Serving as our class advisor for the past four years, Mrs. O'Brien has demonstrated her willingness to assist us in everything. It is through our association with her that she has shown herself to be a good teacher and a sincere friend. It is our deep desire that this dedication will prove to her that we appreciate all the help she has given us during our stay at Fort Edward High. MRS. ELIZABETH O'BRIEN EDITOR’S MESSAGE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF Colleen Cray ASSISTANT EDITOR Joanne Bowe On behalf of the Siren Staff, I would like to present to you our edition of the 1973 super Siren. We hope it will bring back fond memories of our high school days, teachers, classmates, and activities. Although there were many problems in the publishing of the annual, we found the determination to meet our deadlines and bring this yearbook to you on time. In order to accomplish this goal, we would like to thank Mr. LaSarso for his understanding, sympathy, and guidance. In addition, our thanks go to the many advertisers, patrons, teachers, particularly Mr. Kilrain, Mrs. Rutledge, Mr. Miles, Mrs. Sholes, and Mr. Rogers. We hope you enjoy looking through this yearbook as much as we enjoyed putting it together. On July 5, 1971, the Class of 1973 lost not only a fellow student but a dear friend and a great guy. Lou will always be remembered for his quick wit, his winning smile, and his altogether tremendous personality. In all our dealings with Lou we found him to be warm and friendly. Words cannot express our feelings about him. We hope that these pages will show that we will always remember him and that he will always be a part of us. 4 MEM OR I AM CLASSMATE FRIEND Now, Sandy, this is only a suggestion but... CLASS HISTORY Beginning as honorary pea green freshmen, we entered Fort Edward High School in the fall of 1969. Our one and only class meeting was for the election of officers, who were: President, John Smythe; Vice-President, Howard Miles; Secretary, Cindy Traver; Treasurer, Sandy Hunsperger; and Student Council member, Jeanne D'Angelico. In the following year as sophomores, we proved to be a little more ambitious and organized a dance which proved to be very successful. For the year, we chose as class officers: President, Ralph Borden; Vice-President, John Smythe; Secretary, Cindy Traver; Treasurer, Donna Wood; and Student Council Representatives, Jeanne D'Angelico and Joe Quattrocchi. The most eventful year in high school proved to be our junior year. At the first meeting we elected as officers: Ralph Borden, President; Vice-President, Sandy Fisher; Secretary, Cindy Traver; Treasurer, Colleen Gray; and Student Council Representatives, Dave Cutler, Kathy Hayes, Sandy Hunsperger, Jeanne Kitchner, and John Smythe. In order to increase our treasury, we had fund raising activities, like selling candles, selling refreshments at football games and a basketball game between the Harlem Wizards and the high school faculty. This proved to be very successful. The year's major concern was the prom and our class rings, which, for a change, came on time. Choosing Scarborough Fair as the theme for the prom, we worked day and night to make the affair a memorable one. The highlight of the night was the crowning of our king and queen, John Smythe and Colleen Gray. The King and Queen's Court consisted of Rosemary Cook, Linda Matt, Rhonda Clothier, Jeanne D'Angelico, Sandy Fisher, Cindy Traver, Mike D'Angelico, Mitch Suprenant, Bill MacDuff, Mike Leonard, Bob Smith, and Mark Stoughton. Finally, we became Super Seniors. To lead us through the year, the class elected Ralph Borden, President; Sandy Fisher, Vice-President; Cindy Traver, Secretary; Colleen Gray, Treasurer; and Student Council members, Jeanne D'Angelico, Sandy Hunsperger, Donna Wood, John Smythe, Joe Quattrocchi, Bill MacDuff, Kathy Hayes, Mike Leonard, and Lynn Traver. Our biggest event was in January when the Student Council got us Open Campus. This program was well received not only by the seniors, but also by our parents and teachers. For the remainder of the year, we were booked solid with parties, baseball games, track meets and dances. After the Senior Banquet and the Alumni Banquet, we met for Moving-Up Day exercises. Finally, on Sunday, June 24th, the class got together for the last time as we graduated from Fort Edward High School. Before we leave Fort Edward High School, the Class of 73 would like to thank our class advisors for all the assistance and guidance during the past four years: Mrs. G Brien, Mrs. Sholes, Mr. Miles, Mrs. Rutledge and Mr. Kilrain. 38 SCARBOROUGH FAIR THE 1972 PROM COURT Our Queen and King.
