Class History Upon entering high school in the fall of 1968, the Freshman Class of 1972 held its first of many meetings that were to come over the next four years. First, we elected the following officers: Tim Schmidle, President; Robin Trainor, Vice-President; Sharon Garrand, Treasurer; Kathy Burke, Secretary; and Tom Godfrey, Student Council. As we look back over the years, we remember the most important events of our uneventful freshman year - weekly meetings, poorly attended, and our president’s end of the year summation at Moving-Up Day exercises, which depicted just what our class activities were - uneventful. The next year, as Sophomores, we saw an enormous change in class participation. For leaders, we selected Tom Godfrey, President; Earl Smith, Vice-President; Secretary-Treasurer, Kathy Burke; and Sharon Garrand and Robin Trainor, Student Council. At our first meeting, the class voted to undertake an overnight trip to New York City. In order to achieve this goal, we began numerous projects which included three dances, a car wash, and a spaghetti supper. Along with the profits from these and dues, we finally reach our goal two days in New York City, where we saw everything from the taping of a Dick Cavett Show to the lobby of the Hotel Edison at 4 A .M. We are indebted to our chaperones, Mr. and Mrs. O'Brien and Mr. and Mrs. Ecker, for their bravery, courage and understanding in making our trip a rememberable one. As Juniors, our first task was to elect officers. We followed: Tom Godfrey, President; Ken Orms-by, Vice-President; Paul Eiu, Treasurer; Debbie LaVance, Secretary; Carol King and Robin. Trainor, Student Council. The second project concerned our class rings. Breaking tradition, we selected an oval ring without the school crest on it. After a long wait, the rings arrived in February. Finally, the highlight of the year arrived in spring and the Junior Prom. Selecting the theme Aquarius, the class sought the assistance of Mrs. Philip Trombley. With her help and guidance, the gym was decorated with paint, cellophane, and cardboard. Contrasting the signs of the Zodiac and Love posters with multi-colored revolving lights and stars and comets hanging from the ceiling, the gym was a beautiful expression of our theme. On May 14th, our Queen Robin Trainor and King Jeff Hendricks waltzed to the House of Rising Sun. In the Queen's Court were Pat Miles, Betsy Caputo, Linda Varney, Carol King, Sharon Garrand, and Kathy Burke. In the King's Court were Dennis Fisher, Jerry Bovair, Jack Davis, John Montello, Larry Cassant, and Dennis Nolan. Dancing to the music of Star-Spangled Band, we have pleasant memories of the affair even of our little crown bearers, Beth Ann Bardin and Jeffrey Curtis. Finally, we made it; we were Seniors. In November, the class held a spaghetti supper, which was well attended. Next, we chose our graduation announcements and ordered a new type of cap and gown that we kept. On February 10th, we sponsored a trip to the Roller Derby held at the RPI Field House. Later, the Senior boys played the male faculty in basketball while the girls played the lady faculty members in volleyball. In June, after finals, we participated in Moving-Up Day exercises and the Alumni Banquet. Four years of hard work and fun were culminated at graduation During the year, we received leadership from the President, Dan Baldwin; Vice-President, Sharon Garrand; Secretary, Robin Trainor; Treasurer, Paul Etu; and Student Council Representatives, Kathy Burke, Carol King, Rick Strain, Earl Smith, Jeff Hendricks, and Tom Etu. If the Class of 1972 found success, it will be a tribute to the fine faculty advisors that guided, assisted, and at times, understood us. Because of Mr. Ecker, and Mr. O'Brien, who journeyed the four years with us, we thank you. Also we extend our sincere appreciation to Miss Doris Fitzpatrick and Mrs. Louise Brown, who retired last year. In addition, we thank our newly appointed advisors who assisted this year, Mrs. Hanson, Mr. Rogers and Mrs. Meron. 42 Class Prophecy Tim ... I can't believe it's June 25th, 1982! Exactly ten years from the day we graduated from F.E.H.S. I hope everybody shows up for the reunion. The Chateau de Louis has changed a lot since the prom. I bet no one orders Baked Alaska for dessert! Oh! Oh! Here comes Carol, Jeff, Linda and Jerry. I bet Jeff just moved into the office next to his father's and Jerry is now owner of the F. E. Grand Union. Speaking of Grand Union, I hear Terry C. is now district manager for our area. Look at the hair styles on Carol C. and Sue M.! They've owned a beauty salon for the past five years downstreet, and now I hear Debbie S., Chris P., and Mary F. are opening a competitive salon on the hill. Did you hear about Nolan taking over Coach Lewza's job? Mary Smith and Betsy Morrison are also teaching at the high school. I don't believe it! Jack, Betsy, Cull, and Luanne all made it. They wrote and said they were flying in together from Texas, but I never thought they'd make it. I see Al, Dan, Hoop, and Charlie made it here also. They must have driven over from Watkins Glen before the big race Sunday. Hey, look at Goff! Wall Street sure hasn't broken him. And look at Montello and Rock. Did you know Rock is now the owner of Skidoo, and Montello is half owner of Adequate? Maryanne is now running the Fort Hudson Nursing Home, and Pat is head of occupational therapy there. I don't think Sharon and Robin will make it. After becoming nurses, they joined the Peace Corps and are somewhere in South Africa now. I don't think Murph or Debbie will make it either. I hear they have to stay at the U.N. for a meeting tonight. Bumpy and Tucker just finished writing their fifth book, entitled How To Make It Through High School and Live To Tell It. I see where Bruce has gone into the used truck business along with Itzo, and Jim I. as test drivers. I know Gail and Pam will come. They have to. Their husbands are in the band. Dinner should be starting soon. Theresa and Chris N. planned the meal for tonight. They've been working here as hostesses for a couple of years now. I read in the paper last week that Rick Doty was appointed Game Warden for Warren County, and Bill Ward is the warden in Washington County. The town electricians just came in. Larry, Art, and Don have gotten a monopoly on the electrician business here. Fester and Cactus took over Nora's, and Rick F. and Johnny F. just bought the Villager, and I hear they are doing well. Did you hear Bill B. and Carp are competing in the pool championship this year? Ken, the newest rage of the N.B.A., came in with Paul Etu, our new mayor. Oh! Yes! Tonight's refreshments are supplied by Mike Hayes's Liquor Store. There is Jon, with his usual banana shirt on, and Kevin is sporting last year's hair style. I guess after the night is over, you will be heading for Hawaii, and I’ll be going back to duty at G.F. Hospital. If I don't get a chance to talk to you again, I'll see you at the next reunion. See you, Tim. So long ... Scoot. 43 I V ATHLETICS KNEELING: •Test” ... Tucker ... Duck. STANDING: Nature ... Snake ... Cactus ... Goff. V vO f l f ! • Varsity Football F.E. 's Gary Cuozzo.
