It. 1 m - MRS. LOUISE BROWN French The Senior Class of 1971 and the SIREN staff are proud to dedicate this edition to the Foreign Language Department of which Mrs. Louise Brown is an integral part. It is hard to say thanks to someone who has been a good teacher and an inspiration. Under her guidance, many of us have learned to understand and appreciate the French language as well as its culture. Since Mrs. Brown is retiring this year after a fine teaching career, we hope this dedication will show our appreciation to her and bring fond memories in the years to come. Dedication Foreign Language Department The Editorial Staff and the Class of '71 is also proud to dedicate this SIREN to Mrs. Jean Hardick, who is another important part of our language department. Mrs. Hardick has served us as advisor, teacher and a friend to many. Formerly, a teacher of Latin, Mrs. Hardick originated the Spanish program at Fort Edward High into the success that it is. It is our deep desire that this dedication will prove to her that we sincerely appreciate her thoughtfulness and consideration for everything she has done for us. Spanish 2 MRS. At our first class meeting we elected Judy Crannell, President; Mike Collier, Vice-President; Cindy Ives, Secretary; Chris Mandolare, Treasurer; and Anne Smythe, Student Council Representative. Since most of our time was spent adjusting to high school life, no organized activities were planned. The next year we entered school as enthusiastic Sophomores. Chris Mandolare was elected President; Vicky Quattrocchi, Vice-President; Cindy Ives, Secretary; Tawn Martin, Treasurer; and Anne Smythe, Student Council Representative. We ended the year with a class picnic followed by a Sophomore dance in the evening during which we bid farewell to two of our class advisors, Mr. Sheehan and Mr. Pagnotta. As September 1969 rolled along we entered school anxiously anticipating the events of our Junior year. We elected Chris Mandolare, President; Joe Viele, Vice-President; Cindy Ives, Secretary; Tawn Martin, Treasurer; Steve Doty, and Vicky Quattrocchi, Student Council Representatives. In February, after a long wait we received our class rings. Then we looked forward to our Junior Prom, which we broke many traditions. We were the first class to elect boys to the royal court, and to hold the prom in our new gym. The gym was decorated in the theme of Jardin D'amor with Memories as the theme song. Tawn Martin reigned as queen and Steve Stimpson as king. Members of the court were Sue Bowe, Dennis Broderick, Patty Grogan, Joe Viele, Cindy Ives, John Fisher, Chris Mandolare, Jack Savasta, Vicky Quattrocchi, Steve Doty, Judy Crannell, and Todd Hendricks. Music was provided by the Three Notes. We entered high school the following year as triumphant Seniors. We elected Dennis Broderick as President; Todd Hendricks, Vice-President; Cindy Ives, Secretary; Tawn Martin, Treasurer; Steve Doty, Vicky Quattrocchi, and Anne Smythe, Student Council Representatives. Under the direction of our officers, the first event was a Senior Skit. Next on the agenda was a Christmas Dance with music provided by the Essentials. As January rolled along the Seniors presented their play, THE NIGHT IS MY ENEMY. In the spring we planned a day trip to New York City. The year ended with our Senior Banquet, the Alumni Banquet, and finally, the day which we all waited for. Graduation. We would like to thank all the faculty and especially our class advisors; Mrs. Hardick, Chairman; Mr. Salem; Mr. Lewza; Mrs. Loughlin; and Mrs. Terrell. 38 •• 40 It can't be true! Yes, it is true! Class of ’71 — Prophecy June 20, 1981 Dear Tawn, You should have been at our class reunion. I can't believe how everyone has changed in such a short time. For instance, June M and Sue C have become truant officers because of their true understanding of the problems of absenteeism. Also, the teaching profession received many new members from the Class of '71. Lennie Y has become a professor at Plattsburg; George S is the shop teacher at FEHS; and Marsha H turned down an offer from a law firm to continue teaching French. Even Joe M and Don B have gone into the field of education becoming a principal and a superintendent of schools respectively. Another field, which drafted the abilities of the '71 graduates, was sports. Joe V, Todd H and Tom C have been polishing their skiing techniques at Sun Valley, Idaho, for the Winter Olympics. The Baltimore Colts added Dan F and Steve S to its roster while Charlie C and Kevin M signed with the Boston Celtics for another year. Women's Lib scored a victory in the sports world as Linda H took the title in the Indy 500, defeating her former classmates, Jack S and Ed B. Dan C's newest business venture has been the opening of a new discotheque called Mother Lady's which has already booked Tim B and Ron P’s band. Dancing to their music, Pat G and Vickie C are featured as dancers. Some of our class-mates have gone into big business adventures. Paul D and Gary P have taken over the chain of Stewart Stores. Wayne H and Dan H have gone into partnership at Binches. Other partnerships include Cindy I and Theresa R owning Figurama; Mike M and Mike C have opened Mike's Liquor Store. Also, Jean B operates her own catering service, and Lydia L has her own beauty shop. Although some of our class-mates do not own their own businesses, they have done well in their careers. Steve D is on the board of directors of IBM, while Anne S and Elaine T are in the research department of Max Factor. Rene W and Chris M are displaying their art in New York. Speaking of New York, Judy C is a model in the city with Joe C as her photographer. Dennis B is featuring the comic strip Dennis the Menace in the N. Y. POST. Vivian L and Betsy M are residing in Washington, D.C. as political secretaries, while Karen P is a secretary working in Nevada. Wayne G has a used car lot, and Jeff H has taken over Hunsperger Brothers' Farm as sole owner. Our happily married classmates consist of Sue C, Sue B, Angie D, Leonard J, and Ron V. Getting back to the reunion, it was really fantastic! Walt S and Bart R had to rush out in the middle because of a fire. Ed B was the high-light of the evening with his piano, playing as he did back in '71. We were unable to notify Michele B because she is somewhere in California, while Bob S and Mike B were unable to attend because they were big game hunting in Africa. Tawn, I'm glad to hear you’re doing so well in your laboratory. Well, I have to close for now because my next flight leaves in ten minutes. I hope the class can get together again real soon. Your friend, Vicky P.S. The next reunion is set for June 20, 1991. 48 We 7 Never Forget Girls' Freshmen camping trip. Our Geometry class's guided tour through summer school. Our Sophomore picnic.
